So we went to go see Star Wars a couple of days ago!

Holy shit, what a fun ride. Rey, Finn, and Poe are all adorable and I ended up shipping Finn and Poe because of course I did. They had the slow meadow run towards each other, even though they weren't actually in a meadow, and Poe gave Finn his name and his jacket and it was so wonderful and I want fic exploring Finn's attempts to work through his training and programming and learning how to be a person again and how to interact with other people and I want Poe to be there the whole way helping him and guiding him but also wanting so much and not knowing how to deal with that because, because Finn doesn't know how and Poe doesn't want to take advantage, but the universe is a hard place and lives are always getting shorter and AUGH.

And Rey. Reeeeeey. I love Rey so much, I love that she was hard without being a jerk, and that she was so scared but also so courageous and trying so hard to do the right thing. Aaaahh, I want a video game of her travels through the galaxy, yessss. Also, her interactions with Finn were so great and when she hugged Leia and I was like nooo, emotions. ;;; I love that she and Han got along so well and he was so impressed with her and she ended up going off with Chewie, yesssss.

BB-8 was so damn precious. When he rolled over to the low-powered R2-D2, I had more emotions. So much personality in this little guy. I love droids. They're precious. ;3;

I was not impressed with Kylo Ren. It's just really hard to be intimidated by someone constantly tearing up. Also, keep your helmet on, bro. And since I didn't like him, Han's death by him was also pretty meh. It's like, man, don't try and bring your asshole son back from the dark side. I am not okay with that at all.

When Rey found Luke, he looked so sad. I wanted to give him a hug. ;3;

I'm not familiar with what happens in the EU but man, apparently Luke, Leia, and Han's lives kind of sucked after Return of the Jedi. I mean, it would have to - there can't be a story without villains - but it hurts my feelings so much that they fought so hard for peace and had that moment of heroic victory....and then afterwards screwed it up so badly. It makes sense but it's still sad. :( I didn't want them to have such a sad narrative.

I still want Chewie to be my best friend. ;3;

There are too many novels for this movie and I'm going to buy all of them (I might have already bought Star Wars The Force Awakens: Before the Awakening whoops). I might have to save it and read on the plane.

\o/ It was totally a fun ride. I'd like to see it again just so I can drool over the flying-through-the-crashed-Destroyer scenes. Yaaaay!

Yes that fic about Poe and Finn. <3

Just... all the Finn feels. I'd love to see some learning-how-to-human writing about him. Surely someone out there has got to be writing that.

I kept feeling like Disney was unsubtly doing the "we do it bigger, better" thing. From bigger weapons to bigger (attempted) villains (but more on that in a bit) to bigger effects and bigger writing. It was a bit off-putting, actually, but I failed to care about it right about the time Moz showed up.

Adorable shrively people-reading people are apparently my jam. *s*

So, Kylo Ren. Definitely keep your helmet on, bro. (And don't anybody tell me he gets to have dance-perfect hair after wearing a freakin' metal helmet and hood. BAH. That suspends disbelief more than lightsabers do.)

But what a poser. It's a good thing there were more villains (and the epic Starkiller) to deal with, because he was a letdown in the villainous order of things. I got thinking about it and one of the things that made Vader terrifying was control - his control over himself (episodes 4-6, anyway) and over others and over the Force - and Ren is dramatically lacking in that.

Besides, the equipment he wrecked every time he had a hissy fit was probably important. *grump* And if he'd even remotely known how to use those quillions, he may have actually won a lightsaber duel against his untrained opponents. *grump grump*

I could get going about this. >.> I'll refrain.

Rey was delightful and Finn was delightful and I sort of hope they end up being best friends and running around fighting (more impressive than Kylo) Sith and saving the galaxy and stuff. :D

I read a whole lot of EU and actually felt there were some big callbacks to stuff that happened in the books, in the movie. Han's referenced going on a bender after they lost their son; Luke's taking on a bunch of students, getting overwhelmed, and dropping it; although both of those are easily enough extrapolated from ep4-6 movies that maybe it's just convergent evolution of storyline but none the less, they made this EU fan happy.

That scene with Chewie getting ready to lift the Falcon on his own, tho. ;____;

I like to think Luke, Leia and Han had a few better years before things went to shit.

(Also, I want Finn and Poe to adopt Rey as their adorably fierce little sister, with Leia, Chewie and Luke as honorary aunt and uncles.)

I love Rey too! She was so perfect and loveable!

I didn't like Kylo Ren too much either. Like I understand it's supposed to depict his inner struggle, but like you consider the level that he's currently at and you'd think he'd be pretty committed to his evil-ness. I know it's supposed to be relatable but it seems like he has way too many light emotions for what's going on
