communal_creators - I signed up for the tier 3 time, 60 minutes a day! It does weekly averages, so if I cut it short one day, I can add it to other days. Which is good, because there are some days when we go into the city or go on an adventure that is mostly an all day time of thing, and when I get home I do not want to be creative, lol.

I also just joined booknook because being chatty about books is fun, when I manage to read books! Reading books is DIFFICULT but I very much try. And being part of a community is very nice. :3

Also! Round one of xoverbingo has started! And since all I want to do is crossovers and fusions, this is definitely something I had to sign up for. :3

I have gym this morning, wehhhhh I'm not feeling it, but after that I think I'm going to (shower) go to a coffee shop and see if I can get some work done in my Primarch Week things. I STARTED WITH THE 6TH DAY INSTEAD OF AN EARLIER DAY and it has five people in it, so I'm like oh nooooooo, I gotta get something prepared for the earlier daaaaays, aaaaaahhhh.

What I'm saying is, fandom is being great fun and I'm having a good time, lmao. ♥ ♥ ♥

I meant to make another post before August ended but here we are at September 1st. Somehow???? Somehow. Even though it feels way too soon to be September, I'm looking forward to it. All of the -ber months tbh. ESPECIALLY now that I know there are so many things that grow well in the fall/winter. With how iffy produce in the US is getting, I want to grow as much home as I can. I just planted 30 radishes in the whiskey barrel!

Today is going to be a pretty quiet day, as yesterday I did A MILLION house chores and tomorrow I have therapy at 11a, an appointment to get my RealID so I can actually fly again at 3:15p (I didn't realize driver's licenses didn't work for that anymore!), and then a dance fitness class at 6:45p.

Speaking of dance fitness, I've been working on health/fitness.

So I'm fat. I'm fat for no other reason than I'm sedentary and eat way too much. WAY too much. I have always had a pretty unhealthy relationship with food but it was starting to feel a little...idk, I was starting to worry about myself. I also BLEW past the weight I always used to compare to my weight in an attempt to make it not so bad.

I've also....whew, guys, I've not been feeling very good about myself at all. I hit 40 and I just feel....blah. I stopped taking care of my skin, I stopped moving, I stopped doing anything to do with my physical appearance. And that's not me! I've always loved to wear makeup and dye my hair and just, try and take care of my appearance.

The past two weeks I've been tracking my calories, which as been surprisingly easy and also a REAL EYE-OPENER that I need to do things different! I have been under the suggested calorie count for 13 of the 14 days. :D I've also joined a women and nonbinary only gym club and have been taking classes like TRX strength and dance fitness. The goal is three times a week. It has been amazing and gratifying to see how my stamina has already improved in just these couple of weeks. We also have dumbbells and kettle bells at home that I've been using on non-gym days.

And like, I'm not trying to tiny or anything like that. I would like to lose weight but I also want to build muscle and stamina, and take care of my heart a little better. But I'm still cooking! I'm still baking! I'm still eating. Just...less.

So yeah! This has been a very interesting journey! I love my gym and the instructors that I've met so far. It's a small gym and they get together for karaoke and dinners and stuff. There's some really nice people there! It's pretty sweet.

The State of Nan (baking, fandom, Selphie, and books)

It's 70 degrees F here right now, it's kinda cloudy out, with a slight breeze. Lovely, lovely day. <3

Okay, my last post revolved around W getting a job.It's amazing how good financial security is for the brain and the creative process fdsafjda I feel like I've gotten so much done in the past month or so.

I hadn't baked anything in a while but late last month, I decided to bake chocolate muffins!

They came out so rich and decadent, I was sooooo pleased! After that success, I was like, hey, the peaches we received in the CSA box (we get a Community Supported Agriculture fruit box every week) are gonna go back, let's make some peach muffins!

I love peaches and I love a tasty peach muffin. But we also have blackberries growing wild all over the property, and we got another CSA box that we didn't eat all the peaches out of, so how about I combine those for a peach and blackberry cobbler!

With a closeup because this cobbler was delectable, it was so damn tasty, and it was only my second cobbler ever, so that's exciting!

We went to a local Pride event and while the even itself was pretty lackluster, there was a tattoo shop participating with extra discounted flash tattoos!

This is W's leg, not mine, but we got matching tattoos so that's what's important, lol. :D It had been a minute since I'd gotten a tattoo and this is the first one that's not on my forearms (omg I have FOUR tattoos on my FORarm, lmafdjsklafhd).

In other news, my little baby dog Selphie (she's 13 years old) has been diagnosed with Cushing's, which is scary and intimidating to deal with, but she's also having some other mysterious thing that's making her drink a lot and pee a lot. We did more tests today, just waiting on the results, but I'm hoping it's nothing too serious. :( She just seems so stressed a lot of the time, it's no good. Other than that, she's doing great! Eating, drinking (too much), peeing (too much, and also having little accidents in the house), pooping, hitting us with toys, being traumatized by the cats, and harassing the neighbor's dogs.

Fandom-wise, I've discovered that Roboute Guilliman's Dauntless Few (himself, Sanguinius, Leman Russ, Rogal Dorn, and Ferrus Manus) can kinda of be, if I squint, mapped to the Gundam Wing boys (except all the Gundam boys live lmaosob)This is so good for me, because now I can write all the mission fic I wanted to write in GW fandom but was too intimidated to try. I mean, theoretically....I'm still so iffy about writing Primarchs, lol.

Also, a friend of a friend is putting out a little Primarch Week at the end of September and I'm going to participate! I already have an extremely ambitious art piece in works. :D

This morning I popped in at the library to pick up a book waiting for me; How to Sell a Haunted House by Grady Hendrix. I was actually after a different book from the author, The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires because a guy in an online book club group I'm in hated it because of how the author portrayed women. So many women in the comments disagreed with him, including one woman who said something roughly like, as someone who grew up in the South in the 90s, this book was SO true to life on how women in that time period and location behaved. As a woman who ALSO grew up in the South in the 90s, this piqued my interest! But that book has a much longer wait time. XD So I picked up this one instead. It'll give me a good idea if I really enjoy Hendrix's style of writing.

In addition to that book, I'm also in the middle of, haha, several Warhammer novels. Archmagos by Guy Haley (a new Belisarius Cawl book, one of my very favorite blorbos), Krakenblood by Marc Collins (about a Wolf Priest tasked with a very important mission), and The Relentless Dead by Steve Lyons (The fourth Death Korps of Krieg novel).

This was my very first Art Fight and I went into it with hopes and dreams of posting something every day for the entire month of July. This did not happen, lmao, who was I kidding?? But I managed 15 works that I'm more or less proud of! These are all safe for work, but I'm putting them under a cut to space your reading pages. :D

My first one, not feeling super awesome about her looking back, but I'd not drawn for a bit so was getting back into things.

I ended up really really liking this one a lot. A really cute character design and some info to let me put them in a space.

I just thought she had a super cute design and I don't draw enough cute girls.

A beautiful moth lad, I wasn't really sure where I was going with this when I first started drawing but I ended up really liking it.

I love her design SO MUCH, she's so pretty. <3 This ended up being, I think, my most ambitious piece.

Someone's Rogue Trader OC, I was really happy to see so many Warhammer fans in Art Fight, it was nice to play around with fandom OCs. :3

Another Rogue Trader OC, he was a lot of fun to work on and this one might be my most ambitious piece.

Someone's daughter of Strahd OC, when I realized who she was I was like yeah, gotta draw her. <3

THIS. THIS IS THE PIECE I'M THE MOST PROUD OF. A tumblr mutual has this wonderful Word Bearer OC and I just knew I had to draw him. This is the proudest I've ever been of my armor drawing abilities fhdsjafhd.

Space Woooooooolf OC, this isn't my favorite piece at all, although having some distance from it now, I can admit it's kinda cute.

This is another super cute design that I wanted to play around with.

Really cute werewolf character. :3

I read his backstory info and immediately knew I wanted to draw him in the classic anime mean girl pose. :3

WHEW. I'm really pleased with the variety of character types I ended up working on (relative to my typical output; they're all still basically humans lol). I was really proud when I stopped around the 9th and then picked the challenge back up around a week later. I actually went back and started working on more! That's a hard one for me to do, I usually am hyped for three days and then done forever.

I'm gonna make a general life post later on today but I really wanted to get these posted here. :D

WILL GOT THE JOB. After 3 1/2 years trying to get a decent job in a field oversaturated with job seekers, they got an amazing offer letter. Hybrid, four days a week, amazing pay, great benefits. WHEW. Things were getting pretty scary for a minute there! I'm so proud of them for hanging in there and not giving up! I know the job market is terrible everywhere right now and Seattle is no different; the tech companies are laying people off hundreds, if not thousands. Will doesn't work in tech, but I imagine tech skills can trickle into multiple office-type jobs. This is SUCH A RELIEF.

HELL YEAH. I only managed to get three character sheets done (and I have never done these before) but I'm kinda proud??

First up is my Ultramarine OC, Ignatius Antonius. <3 He is probably the reason I'm actually into OCs right now, I was like let me draw a OC and give him lore and next thing you know, I'm obsessed. <3

Next up we have Yesun Gesi, my Warrior of Light from FFXIV. I don't even play FFXIV anymore, but all of my characters stem from this fucking guy. Like, they are all his descendants. He's here for a good time and, what do you know, a long time as well. <3

And lastly, Cecily Von Valancius, my OC for Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader. She's a completely insane Iconoclast, loves her crew, but also really loves money and crimes.

SO YEAH THERE'S THAT. I'm so excited but also weirdly nervous lmao, and the discord is waaaaaay too much for me to handle, lol.

Books! Video Games! Art Fight! Movies!

Thank you very much for the well wishes on the previous post. I'm still a mess, but we're persevering! I'm supposed to be released for work on the 10th, but I don't think I'll actually be starting back until the 15th. Which is good, because I'm going through hella withdrawals from duloxetine. XD;;

I somehow read six books over the month of May! The Sworn Soldier series by T. Kingfisher (What Moves the Dead, What Feasts at Night, and What Stalks the Deep) started out very strong, but the third wasn't quite my jam.

We Are Always Tender With Our Dead by Eric LaRocca was a surprise! I decided to read this after the author gathered up bad reviews and used them as testimonials. What a weird, quietly horrific, ride. I devoured it; I haven't read like this in years. ] I'm looking forward to the sequel, even though I'm not entirely sure why. I'm not attached to any of these characters but the actions they take are awful and fascinating, and I'm really interested in seeing where this goes.

They Fear Not Men in the Woods by Gretchen McNeil was a book I'd read no reviews for, just picked it out because of the title, cover, and because I love natural horror. This was so good with a surprise queer relationship that I loved. It was a little slow to start and I think there were a few more characters than there needed to be (but we must have cannon fodder!), but I ended up loving this.

Down by Ally Bloom was very enjoyable....except the main romance. XD; I don't actually have a ton of tolerance for romance in books, but I didn't realize that until I started reading this book. I found myself incredibly frustrated with the two main dudes; all of the side characters were far more interesting. But it was still a good ride. :)

I've signed up for Art Fight! for the first time! I need to get all of my OCs in order! I need to create character references! I'm very excited to participate. :3 I have at least four WH40k OCs but I'm sure I can come up with more OCs in different fandoms/original work to add. :D Oh, Yesun Gesi, my warrior of light! I'm frantically drawing reference pictures and this has been so helpful in figuring out color schemes, weapon loadouts, and armor details. OH MY ROGUE TRADER! :D

Anyways, I have so many things to draw, I can't wait. :D

EDIT: I wrote everything above a couple of days ago, so now I am continuing from TODAY. I really need to start dating when I start writing a post, because the post will be open for days and I'll add onto it but sometimes that messes up context and shit. ANYWAYS. I have talked to my boss, they are VERY EXCITED to have me back (yay!), and I'm going down to four days a week. Prozac causes a bit of mania and also DREAMS, which I HATE, I haven't dreamt since becoming a habitual weed smoker and I LIKE IT THAT WAY. So I'm going to switch to taking in the morning and see if that helps.

cypher and I watched Mortal Kombat (2021), they for the first time, and you know what? I liked it much better this go-round. I freaking love the actors for Sonya, Jax, and Kano, and OH MY GOD LIU KANG IS ADORABLE??? Anyways. Still eagerly awaiting MK2 (which I just looked up and is available for streaming! when I get my first check, we're having a living room date night!). I'm just really proud that we managed to sit down and watch something! That was my first movie since last May. Of 2025. And much longer for Will! Kinda proud it was Mortal Kombat that broke that streak for us. XD

THE BETRAYAL

So.....hmmm. My pharmacy/doctor combined to fuck me over a lil bit, I didn't get my meds for about two and a half weeks. I have them now but my doctor hesitated to fill them because she wanted me off them for some reason. She changed her mind (??!!) and now I have A Lot. It's been a lot. I do not function well without them. I have missed work and am on a LOA while I chill and get regulated. I'm so tired. :\

My boss has been a trooper and doing her best to work with me. I really, really appreciate her. I would very much like to keep my job.

I really wanted to go see Mortal Kombat 2 but you know, the above happened and I was too anxious to be going to the theater, so instead I've been trying to find ways to watch the original Mortal Kombat (1995), which is one of my favorite movies. ;3; I don't know where my DVD is of it, which is very annoying. OH WELL. Instead I've been watching so many youtube videos talking about plot points, character arcs, and tier lists. XD;

I have been reading! The day I got my meds back, I read a whole novel. The whole thing. Picked it up from the library in the late morning, closed the book in the late afternoon. I've since read a novella and am starting a new book today. I've discovered the best way for me to read is to go to the library, pick out a book I'm excited about (and JUST ONE BOOK), take it home, and devour it immediately. If this doesn't happen....I will not read the book. ADHD is very dumb and I hate it, lol.

Anyways, that's all I've got for now. It's a pretty chilly, grey day, so I'm probably going to curl up under a blanket and read some more. Happy Sunday, everyone!

Happy Anniversary to Us! Yesterday! And some other things!

cypher and I have been married a full year! That's wild! I mean, we've been together since 2019 and have been living together since 2020, but you know. Marriage! :D But yes, yesterday was our one year anniversary; we went to lunch at a nearby Mexican restaurant that I'd never been to and they hadn't been to in over six years. It was delicious! I did get a flight of margaritas (mango, blueberry, and tamarind) and extremely tasty enchiladas (salsa verde for Will and mole for me). The vibes were immaculate! It was busy but still chill and everyone seemed to be in a great mood. It was just, ah, so nice.

And I had bought this super cute card set:

We picked one that was free and only took an hour and scratched it off to reveal a "Try Not to Laugh" challenge! We did something similar, which was queue up some Real Facts videos by ZeFrank on the TV and laugh as much as we want. It was so nice! We're both really bad at watching things so it was nice to pile on the couch together and watch something funny but informative, haha. It was really, really nice to cuddle and laugh together. ;3;

Unfortunately not all is well in Nanland. My dog Selphie has been acting a little odd lately. Panting a lot, drinking a lot, peeing a lot, not having any energy. We ended up getting her an emergency appointment and at first, the vet assumed both diabetes and Cushing's but after bloodwork, it definitely looks more like Cushing's. She's gonna have to spend the day at the vet on Monday while they figure out her medication dosages and then she'll likely be on them for the rest of her life. ;3; But all my research tells me that after she's on medication she'll be doing so much better. Which is a relief! I miss my little hiking pal. ;3;

But in better pet news, a couple of nights ago I was watching youtube videos with Dale (my bearded dragon). Lil man climbed to my back, nuzzled his snoot into the hair behind my ear, and went to sleep. ;o; Aaaaahhhh I love him a lot. <3

And in gardening news! Radishes, beets, and turnips going strong, lettuces thriving, and tomatoes started. I feel like it's been kind of a slow start for gardening but I suspect last year we jumped the gun a bit for getting things started. XD; Gotta contain the enthusiasm for when it's actually warm enough!

Happy Easter to those who celebrate! I do not but my store closes early so I get to leave early. That's very nice, aaaahhh. <3 I'm trying SO HARD hard to not waste my mornings before work, so I'm updating DW and also watching a Smosh video.

I've finished a Chris/Leon fic, I just need to go back over it and make sure there aren't too many egregious grammar issues. I don't care about, like, purposefully fucking around with grammar (I love commas and semicolons) but I don't want a simple typo to ruin the vibes, you know?

Aaahhh, okay. I have less than an hour until my shift starts. I'd better start getting ready. ;o; I have Wed-Fri off next week due to WEDDING ANNIVERSARY and I'm just trying to make it until then.

OH ALSO I GOT BIT BY A DOG YESTERDAY. Immediate bruising, a little blood, and swelling, but today it seems to have calmed down.

Friday is my Sunday and I don't waaaant to go back to work tomorrow, I want to stay home and watch jacksepticeye play Resident Evil Village and figure out why people ship Ethan/Chris (not a dig, I'm very intrigued by the idea!). It's a short workday, even! I need to be an adult about it instead of such a baby. :(

AND THEN I LEFT THIS OPEN and it is now Saturday, a workday, which is only 1:30p-6:30p, but I don't know how to not think about work before going in. It's frustrating. :\ Gonna do some laundry and try and focus on anything else.

Especially for written porn, gosh. Apparently all I needed with a horrible dead lizard man. <3 Although not everything I'm working on features Victor Gideon. Just...half of it. XD;

I also went through and locked all of my fic to AO3 logged in users only. I had it so only logged in users could comment but then decided, nah. If you can't comment, you don't get to read! Sorry, not sorry, normies who go to consume fic on A03, don't comment, but then talk about it on tiktok or whatever. :P

So, uh. Unexpected emergency dental surgery yesterday! I'd broken a tooth a few weeks ago and didn't really think anything about it at the time, since it didn't really hurt. Then pain started coming and going but I just took pain relievers and went about my business. Except on Friday, the pain didn't go away. So that night I made an emergency appointment for the day after. Turns out my tooth was infected and the infection had punched a hole in my sinuses and was festering there. It was a huge infection. But an extraction and bone graft later, I'm doing much better! And it totally makes sense why I was feeling so rundown the past couple of weeks; I had a giant infection in my face!

So yeah, anyways, recovering from that! I already feel a bit better, thank you antibiotics.

I have written my first fic in a long time because of Resident Evil Requiem. I just need to get it all typed up and in the same place, haha. I'm really excited! It's Victor Gideon/Leon Kennedy because what can I say, I'm a monsterfucker. XD;

(I kinda think that's why I have no interest in Heated Rivalry, both because they're just dudes and also because they get together canonically; that's fucking boring! I only like sex/romance when I already give a shit about the characters, which is why fandom is where I live)

cypher and I are going to Norwescon in April I'm a SO EXCITED. I haven't been to a con in like. Nine years, I think? It has been A WHILE. And it's a four day con and there's lots of fun things to do on Thursday and Friday! So I won't even need to take work off for it. :D I have planned out Thursday already, even though everyone knows how plans fail.

There are SO MANY PANELS but we've narrowed it down to the ones we actually want to attend. I'm so excited. Aaaaahhh. :D I am so delighted. And this con is held literally twelve minutes from my house so why have I never gone? Who knows. Time to fix that now.

EDIT: Also, amazing news, Will paid off the house! It is now ours, free and clear (except for taxes!). The car will be paid off by the end of this month! Finances going....okay? WHEW.

I've been struggling to be interested in things lately, but I'm going to try to get some thoughts out!

I'm so excited for 1348 Ex Voto. You play as a knight errant named Aeta and you're off to save your girlfriend. The gameplay looks pretty rough, I gotta admit, but I'm still cautiously excited. I encourage you to not read the comments on that youtube video unless you want to see the very worst of the gamer community complaining about it. :\ Anyways, this game comes out March 12th, which is a Thursday, the beginning of my weekend, so that's really nice. :3

Resident Evil: Requiem was released today and I'm excited to find an LPer who plays in a not annoying manner, haha, because I'm absolutely so hyped for this game, but I'm also a huge chicken who is not good at scary games. XD; Excited to see in a game again. :D

Pokemon Wind/Waves looks gorgeous! Since it's not even being released until 2027, I hope that means they're giving themselves time to really polish it up. And that gives me time to afford a Switch 2, haha. XD;

....had a sudden urge to try to app somewhere to rp. I haven't successfully rp'ed in ages lmao. I don't even know who I'd play as.

Birthday was the 13th! I'm officially 40! I do not think I have the maturity levels to be a 40 year old! I smoke too much weed and forget laundry in the wash and stay up too late just to regret it deeply in the morning. Shit's crazy. But as Guillermo del Toro said, "As a kid, I dreamed of having a house with secret passages and a room where it rained 24 hours a day. The point of being over 40 is to fulfill the desires you've been harboring since you were 7." So...idek what 7 year old me desired, but it was probably something to do with being happy, so that's what I'm aiming for.

cypher and I played Warhammer 40k: Kill Team today! They with their Plague Marines and me with my Hernkyn Yaegir team. It was a slow match at first but soon there was fierce battling. It ended up being 7 (me) to 10 (them). It was A LOT of fun and I think I learned some things. We're trying to get good enough that we can play in public, haha.

I heard of spikedluv's passing. It's always so surreal when someone in fandom dies. Like...we're not supposed to do that? I don't know. It's strange. We were not friends but we ran in shared fandom circles and she was such a presence on DW. My heart goes out to all who knew her. <3

Last week, I cut my finger pretty deeply while making food, and missed two days of work trying to give it time to heal (I bathe dogs for a living; I did not want to be sticking an open wound into dirty dog water). The third day, a dog broke my glasses and I had to leave early (I was able to mend them).

Yesterday, I woke up very sick, probably with the same punishing cold Will has. My job is pretty lenient about calling out, but gosh do I hate doing it this often. ;o; It always makes me nervous. My boss is super understanding but I don't want to take advantage of that. Oh well. ;3;

I'm painfully behind on Snowflake Challenge, to absolutely no one's surprise; I did the first one and stopped. XD; There are some that I want to go back and do, but I doubt I'll actually catch up. But that's okay! I want to do the animals/pet one. Speaking of which, I bought Dale's 4x2x2 (120 gallon) terrarium! It looks like it'll be a pretty easy build, and I have several things to add to it (although there are definitely more things I want to add, like some of the climbing vine, some fun rocks/slate, things like that. I'm hoping to get it built today, if I'm feeling better in the afternoon.

I read the first book of the Uriel Ventris series, Nightbringer, and it was delightful; Ventris is an adorable, pious, little murder machine, and I'm pretty sure literally every man he met wanted to top him. I immediately bought the second volume on thriftbooks (a lot of "older" Black Library books are out of print, so I have to search for them as well as be willing to part with more than a little bit of moola). We already own the third book (Will bought it a little while ago) so that should keep me busy for a while. I'm a very slow reader. XD;

This morning I went out, coffee in hand, to sit on the back step. It was very cold but peaceful. I heard the first birdsong of the day. <3 I'd read about how people with ADHD need to sit in the moment sometimes, no screens, no texts, nothing like that, and just allow themselves to be. It was very nice and I think I should start more days like this.

Hello! I'm Nan! She/her, 39 (turning 40 in February, whoa), and I've been in fandom for most of my life (got started as a wee 13 year old). It has been my main source of friends and interaction through the years. I've been in many, many fandoms over the years; HP, MCU, Final Fantasy (primarily 8, 12, 15, and a Realm Reborn), LOTR. I'm currently neck deep in Warhammer 40k fandom but I'm trying to spread my wings, take in new and different media, and hopefully gather a fun little collection of fandoms. :D I started out as a fanfic author but nowadays I'm primarily a fanartist, although I would really love to get more words out in 2026. I typically ship m/m but I enjoy drawing porn, romance, and gen art. :3

I live in Seattle with cypher, four cats, a dog, and a bearded dragon. I work an extremely non-glamorous job that I enjoy a lot.

I want to be more present in fandom and on DW, as both of these give me sanity but man, am I terrible and staying focused (I have diagnosed ADHD), lmaoooo.

Belatedly! And Happy Thursday for those who don't celebrate! It was a quiet, lovely day for cypher and me. We broke open the Heroes' Feast DnD cookbook. Will made Amphail Braised Beef and some delicious saffron bread called St. Lucia Buns (they got the recipe from a Scandinavian friend on tumblr). For sides I made Otik's Skillet-Fried Spiced Potatoes, Quith-Pa (an Elven recipe containing apricots and almonds; the original called for coconut but Will's allergic so I subbed in the almonds), and Wood Elf Forest Salad.

We exchanged gifts, which can be summed up as Warhammer + art supplies (for me) and Warhammer + video games (for Will). As always, I wish I could have done more, but they assured me I did enough. I just want to get them all the nice things. ;3;

I finished my assignment for eatdrinkmakemerry and for secretsanguinala and am now working on a gift and a pinch hit for the latter. I don't know what came over me — possibly having a steady job (good, security!) + the state of the world (extremely bad) is combining in a way that's making my brain look for fun productivity — but I'm having a ton of fun working on fandom stuff. :D It probably also helps that I'm working on mostly crack ships and AUs. Also, wrt Secret Sanguinala, it's my fandom's holiday exchange! I want it to be successful and full! Reveals were late Christmas Eve so this last gift is gonna be a little late, but that's okay.

I both love and hate that Steam has a yearly replay similar to Spotify's Wrapped. I love it because, I mean, I'm very sentimental and I love looking back on the year! But I hate it because it's such a magnifying glass on how bad I am at staying on task in games, lmao. Oh well. I'm hoping 2026 is a kinder year in all ways and I'll be able to focus better on hobby things.

........I usually do a little look back on the year but frankly, 2025 SUCKED and I don't want to. It was just a shitty, disheartening, scary year and I understand that there is a lot of privilege to being able to be like, nope, not gonna focus on all that scary stuff, but damn it! I'm tired of focusing on the scary stuff! It's ALL bad! Even news about video games is bad (Larian employees making fun of the gender stuff in BG3, Larian using AI for the character design in Divinity, etc) and it's just. All bad. So I'm looking forward to the future and the things I can control.

Speaking of which, I bought a fancy hardback planner for this year!

The gold is shiny and I'm using different colored pens to help try and keep me on track. As someone notorious for NOT staying on track on goals....I hope I can stick with this, lmao.

The eating holiday!

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate! Happy Thursday to everyone else! ♥ We made a small ham, Will made fruit bread, and I made three recipes from the Elder Scrolls cookbook; saltrice porridge, stewed apple and cheese, and double-baked potatoes! it was very tasty and all came together pretty easily!

We had a baking plate just the right size for our little ham~ ♥ Honestly such a tasty little spread. We also had apple cider simmering in the crockpot all day so the house smelled so good and warm and cozy.

Also! A coworker needed to rehome her bearded dragon and I simply could not say no. So meet Dale (that's the name he came with, I'll be changing it but I don't know to what yet)! I got him and his enclosure for free but everyone knows there's no such thing as a free pet; I've already spent over $200 on getting him all set up. And today I was able to hold him for the first time. It was lovely.

He's a little guy and I'm already very fond of him.

Anyways! I'm rolling myself off to bed. I'm grateful for all of you and for our little home on the internet here. ♥ ♥ ♥

Hello, friends!

Job continues to go well. I paid for groceries with tip money, which is awesome? I've never worked for tips before and gosh, they sure are great. XD I mean, I still get an hourly wage, which is only very slightly above Seattle minimum wage but well above the national minimum wage, but tips are very helpful nonetheless. I'm now finally in my regular schedule. Last week going into this week was killer, because I was off Thursday and Sunday, and then went into huge work days on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I need days off together! It's so important! But I'm off Thursday, Friday, and Sunday now, and I can't argue about that. My weekend is here! ;3;

I'm still learning how to be at home without being completely flopped (I've been useless lately) but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I've been playing a lot of Darkest Dungeon, which is such a cozy game to me. XD;

I failed out of Kinktober, which is a surprise to no one! XD I'm really no good with challenges like that. Somehow I manage to do exchanges, although I'm running later than I'd like on two right now. :\a I will make a new post for all the art I did manage, since this post is meant to be fully SFW.

Job is going well! I completed my first week with no freakouts and crying, which is pretty great, and the knowledge that I'm bringing from previous experience has proven to be incredibly useful. It's possible I have a higher expectation for my job than my boss does, which is an interesting feeling (I shaved a pup's paw pads pretty sloppily but she said they looked great???? thank you). A lot of the things I struggle with are the extra security measures a corporate bather needs to take. For example, always making sure a lead is on the dog, even if you're just moving them from the bath to the drying table; in the small business grooming salon I worked at before, things were a lot more lackadaisical (I would just pick the dog up and move them myself, easy peasy).

Also, learning new software to check-in/checkout clients is also a thing. But it's pretty straightforward so I'm learning quickly, I think. :3 Oh, and getting my confidence back when it comes to interacting with strangers, which for the most part I'm already there.

(getting paid weekly is AMAZING and so good for my ADHD when I'm like where is my reward for doing this work, boom there it is! and also I LOVE BUYING PET SUPPLIES FOR MY OWN LIL BABIES it's very enjoyable to me, hehe)

Bluesky leadership continues to shit the bed. It continues to be so frustrating. :\a

Kinktober continues pretty well, although I'm a bit stumped for day 5. I was set on doing voyeurism but that's not really a kink I vibe well with. Although I'm working a fic (of all things!) that I could add a little bit to, to make it work for that prompt. :\a

I'm finding myself pulled into the Darkest Dungeon fandom, by which I mean I kinda of want to draw them all for eatdrinkmakemerry. The game itself is so weirdly comforting to me; going off on horrific adventures and then coming back to drink/gamble/romance their stress away. It's got a nice groove going for it and I just recently completed a long quest for the first time! I've not played the sequel at all because I've heard they have very different play styles and I really, really love the play style of the first one.

I'm already tired of fall. XD; Please give me the sun back. I don't even care about the warms, I just want the sun, thank you. Getting dark before 7pm is terrible.

There is a decided lack of whimsy in my life and man, it's a huge bummer. Today feels especially damning, so I'm gonna make a post!

I'm waiting to sign the paperwork but I've got a job at a nationwide pet supply store. I'll start as a part-time bather and after at least six months and 200 baths, I'll be applying for the grooming academy. I never really thought I'd go back into dog grooming but I have experience, enjoy it, plus it's pretty AI proof, so. You know! Also I love interacting with dogs and breaking down my day into assignments will be good, I think! The hiring manager was off yesterday and will be off today and Sunday, so I'll probably have to wait until Monday to move forward with the paperwork (I got a verbal confirmation, we were just waiting on the background check, which came through yesterday). A little frustrating because I'm really eager to get the show in the road, but I will try to remain patient. ;3;

Related, was able to talk to my doctor about my extreme panic and anxiety, and she upped my prescriptions so here's hoping that helps! I would very much like for it to! I need to find an actual therapist but medication working would also be very good! This house needs an income.

Yesterday I went out and used the little wood chipper to chew up a ton of the old, dead blackberry vines we took out earlier this year. It's not hard but it's tedious and they're pretty stabby. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while so I'm glad I finally found the energy and attention to do it!

Today we're going to a farm fest at one of the local community gardens. It should be a nice little community event, I'm looking forward to music and food, lol.

and I'm pretty excited! I've already started working on mine, since I'm very slow, lmao. They'll all be in black and white since I don't want to try to worry about colors (and I mean, it's a play on Inktober, and I know ink comes in all colors, the tradition is black) and I'm having so much fun. I'm also trying more dynamic poses. I'm planning on posting them daily on bsky, although they're updating their ToS to be pretty shitty towards pornography. :\ I'm so frustrated with how the internet is going (and also everything that is terrible that is happening) and I just want to be able to draw and post porn in peace. But that's not how things are going.

AT LEAST DW IS STILL HERE. <3 <3 <3 Once I'm getting a steady income again, I'm going to put a little towards DW like twice a month or something. We've got to try to protect the spaces we have left. I'll still be posting on Bsky for as long as I can, but. It's a bummer!

The -ber months are upon us!

We're not quite there yet but it certainly feels like fall! There's leaves on the ground, the weather has chilled, and the harvest has been bountiful!

The first BIG harvest! And probably the biggest one, although I do keep bringing more and more in. My first year of really trying is going so well! And also four pints of homemade tomato sauce! We have a deep freezer so I'm going to just freeze them (these are freezer-safe). This is just half of the sauce tomatoes in the picture above, so we should have another four cans there, and there's also SO MANY GREEN TOMATOES STILL OUTSIDE. I'm monitoring night-time temps and as soon as it gets too chilly (below 50s), I'll be bring all the tomatoes in to finish ripening on the counter.

Also started a bunch of greens (broccoli, bok choi, chard) to hopefully get some nice cool weather crops popping off. I have plants to further rabbit proof the gardens before these little babies go out, since the rabbits have such a preference for leafy greens. :\

In terms of fandom, eatdrinkmakemerry is gearing up! This is one of my absolute favorite exchanges for making cozy, seasonal works. ;3; Which is not the only thing acceptable for this exchange, it's just my go-to because I love cozy bullshit, hahaha. I admit to kind of failing in fandom lately; just not really have the focus for it. So I hope that this helps out with that. ;3;

It's also the time of year where spooky watch lists are being dropped and this one caught my eye:

Some of these I probably won't watch (The Fall of the House of Usher has a cat in it and I know something bad happens to it so I Will Not Watch) and I'll probably add some of my faves (Hocus Pocus not on there is a gd travesty, although I just realized these are movies available on Netflix....man, whatever). There's also some mystery movies that I'd like to watch (I've never watched any of the Knives Out franchise and it's apparently amazing! It's so annoying, with all the different streaming services, to find what you actually want to watch. :\

Also, has anyone seen the trailer for Good Boy? A horror movie from the point of view of the dog. ;o; I definitely want to watch this one.

Let's see....I think that might be it for me! It's a lovely day out (we've had some not great air quality due to wildfires but it seems like it's blown out for the most part). I think, however, that I might just curl up with a book and let the birds sing me straight into a nap (seems unlikely, lmao).

I took a silly little personality quiz that ended up being extremely accurate! I love personality quizzes and I used to do them all the time. It helps that the design is super cute. <3

I've been on the hunt for a new MMO as my interest in FFXIV wanes (it never really recovered after the shenanigans with the grifter) and have fallen firmly into Elder Scrolls Online. I love the Khajiit so much! I started the game as a dude but since I don't really have a group to play with (Will is playing but they're on PS4 and I'm on PC and there's no crossplay - YET) and I prefer playing as a girl. So I created a second character - also a Khajiit. Whoops!

and also, Razum-Dar is adorable and I love him.

I also started replaying Pokemon Violet, since I didn't get very far along in it. I tried to make my character look like an office worker, lmao. I don't know how old these characters are meant to be but I don't think it's fourteen, right? Like. Maybe.

Also: garden producing a lot! This is just one bowl of five that has been harvested. <3 I'm really pleased with how it's been going! I also have at least four spaghetti squash and six mini-pumpkins! And another six pocket melons! And lemon cucumbers!

I'm definitely going to be expanded the gardens for next year; with the way grocery prices are going it's better, I think, to take advantage of the space we have for vegetables.

Let's see...I'm sure there are more things, but that's all I can think of! I have art to post but some of it is NSFW and should have its own post. :3

Warhammer fandom has been exceptionally obnoxious and it's really killing my drive to create things. I might need to find a new fandom. :\a I don't even know what I'm interested in anymore tbh. Also it would break Will's heart if I leave this fandom, even though we have completely opposite opinions. I don't know. Right now I'm just doing my best to not interact with anyone on tumblr lol.
