Big thanks to everyone who commented on my previous post. I'm really excited and happy to be out of there! I will find better things. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Things have been pretty quiet around here! I have never actually...been unemployed before? So it's interesting. I've done the math and I'll be good through August so I haven't been panicked about a new job just yet. I've put some applications out but. Eh. The problem is I'd planned on going to Seattle in October and if I get a new job, chances are that's a bust, so I'm like. ;3; I want to go. ;3; But I need to be a bit more of an adult about it. I guess. |D

I've started a new game for the New World of Darkness! Which I am not familiar with at all. I've heard of Vampire: The Masquerade but I'd never really done anything with it. But now I'm playing an Acanthus Mage of the Mysterium Order. I'm gonna be honest, I'm mostly winging it. :P Fortunately the group I'm playing with is very chill about my newness to this game/universe.

I've also been playing a bit of FFXIV. I have Yesun at level 65 MNK and am just having a good time doing Hunts and dungeons and and filling out my Wondrous Tails card. The plot is kind of secondhand to everything else, which is fine; my FC is good with filling me in with the important parts.

I finished watching season 3 of Stranger Things. Wow. Wow. I was okay with Hopper's death up until the letter he wrote to El was written. Now, look, Hopper was an extremely flawed man and he was also an older man in the 80s; he wasn't the most enlightened or mature of people, not to mention he was also dealing with PTSD and everything else. So I get the criticism towards him but also, I loved him and I think he was honestly trying his very best. And that letter destroyed me. The idea of relationships changing and never being able to go back to what they were. And that was framed in parent/child relationships but also read over the montage of the Byers and El leaving Hawkins, so all of those friendships and little romances are also irrevocably changing. And it's normal, it happens so often in life, but it's still very sad. :<

Also, Billy! My poor trash son, cut down during his redemption arc! I honestly wanted so much more for him. That final "I'm sorry" to Max. :<

Also: I love Steve and Robin, they are so good and cute, Steve, Robin, Dustin, and Erica were definitely my favorites this season. They all played off each other so well, their shenanigans were easily the most entertaining.

Max and El going to the mall and hanging out and trying on clothes to find out what is El was so good and I loved it a lot.

Poor Will. I feel you, kid. I remained kind of annoyed with Mike throughout this season; I just think he's a bit of a shit? Oh well.

Nugget (the newest lil kitty in my home; I'm pretty sure I've mentioned her before!) is now a little over 6 weeks old! She's eating and pooping on her own and is turning into a tough little roughneck. But when any of the other cats are too rough or if she gets scared, she runs to me and she chases my feet when I walk around. Bottle fed kittens are such little babies. ;3;

Being this close to October it's not unreasonable at all to tell someone that's offering you a job that you already have non-refundable tickets for a trip in October. They won't pay you for the time but they'll usually understand you going.

Do people really criticise Hopper? I don't know what I really expected from Stranger Things fandom, but I assumed everyone would love him. He's great. For what it's worth, I feel like he probably isn't dead - I assume the whole "not the American" thing is a fake-out, and the characters will think it's him next series then find out it's not, but then he'll come back some other way. So hopefully we haven't seen the last of Hopper (but Hopper is great. He's in my top five with El, Steve, Billy and Max. The show could be about them and I'd be thrilled).

And Billy! I was hoping for something better than Redemption Through Death, but not exactly expecting it. It didn't seem like the writing was giving him any chance to survive - like the characters never even made one plan for how they might burn the smoke monster out of him before they closed the gate. I hoped when he was trapped in the burning car that might be it, but no. He was a really interesting character given his backstory and family dynamics, and I hoped they'd do something more with him. But I guess not.

And I agree that Mike is a jerk. He was okay in season 1, but then his whole "it's not a stupid sports game!" thing in season 2, exactly the way other characters would talk to him about D&D, irked me, and then all this season he was just a prick. Disrespecting Hopper in his own cabin. I assumed they were just showing the kids growing up into teenage jerks, as kids do, but they didn't do it well/likeably with him. I can hardly bear Nancy either though. Mrs Wheeler's the only good one in that family. And maybe Holly.

I also want to second the above comment - I don't know how it is in America, but in England if you're interviewing or applying for a job they usually ask if you have any planned holidays coming up, and try to work something out with you about it. They don't usually like you to suddenly take time off in the first few months of working at a new job, but if you already have a holiday booked beforehand and you tell them about it, they're usually pretty understanding (especially if you say you have non-refundable tickets).
