I very much enjoyed the several "screw Tumblr, just talk to people on DW" initiatives I've seen recently :) And it works, I did find new people to talk to. I still use Tumblr because the pics are so pretty, but I never really figured out how to use it as a social platform.
What I mostly notice about DW in contrast to LJ is that there are very few active comms. LJ had so many that were very active, but not that I've found on DW. Except anonmemes, for some reason they work well.
