Someone over at fandomsecrets asked what we miss most about oldschool fandom and this thread is TEARING ME APART. Thank you, nostalgia bomb, for coming up and punching me in the face again. :<

I've completely switched gears for NaNoWriMo and am now writing about a dude at the center of good vs evil, except in this case (if I can manage it!) it's restrictive order vs violent chaos. Shades of gray, man. Shades of gray. Also, his best friend has awakening powers that turn him into who he really is, a chaotic, violent, manipulative guardian to MC; he's still recognizable, still making terrible jokes and puns, still claims to be MC's best friend, he's just. Very different.

(I was inspired by Seishiro and Subaru, and what of Seishiro had just admitted he fell in love with Subaru??)

(But in reality this is basically Scott and Nogitsune!Stiles so if that's your thing, friends, it is also my thing, let's enjoy this thing!)

Anyway, fall break was nice but I got very little done and spent very little time at home, which was surprising but nice. I went to a used bookstore and bought way too many books



Look, okay, I have bad taste, I know that! I've been so curious about Cassandra Clare's work and it's been approximately a million years since the whole HP fandom fiasco, I figured I could buy this book. Plus, I'm supporting a used bookstore, not her. XD

...also, I need to get over ancient fandom drama but I NEVER WILL.
and spent way too much time just looking at everything.

We're going to Netherworld tonight and that should be fun! Even though I'm not so excited about who I'm going with, whoops. Oh well. XD

Oh no, oldschool fandom feelings. ;-; Although there was a lot of dumb shit there too, I do miss it being on platforms I actually liked using (rather than tumblr).

Loooord Seishirou/Subaru. That was one of my first BL ships back in high school thanks to marathon-watching X/1999. I remember being so stressed about Seishirou's death scene. "WHAT DID HE SAY OMFG SOMEBODY TELL ME."

(I never really read/watched Tokyo Babylon so I managed to escape being creeped out by Seishirou perving on an underaged Subaru.)

I'm the opposite in that I own all of the Tokyo Babylon manga and watched the anime but I'm not too familar with X/1999. ngl, Seishiro creeping on an underage Subaru was my fave. XD

Yes, there was dumb shit but there was also so much magic. ;;; I loved it so much. I know part of it is age and time (I was 13 when I got in fandom back in 1999, so it's not like I had responsibilities) but man, I wish fandom hadn't changed so much. ;;;

I think I watched episode one of the TB OVA? But that was after I marathoned X. I remember going, "Why does young!Subaru look like a girl," and marveling how he transformed into a giant ball of angst.
