It's one of the reasons why I love Livejournal (and here for the matter): you can look back at threads that could never be lost and for safekeeping, you could bookmark them to your memories for later. On Tumblr, you can fave them, but it means that you have to go drowning to a sea of your faves, just to find the the post you liked. I also loved the privacy on Livejournal. You can make things members only (very nifty for music posts) or share your personal stories among your mutuals that you can trust. Yeah, Tumblr has the new messaging system a la Facebook's messaging system, but Livejournal to me had balance of both social and private.
