So I got to play with a Nintendo Switch yesterday. *__* My graphic design professor brought hers and let me handle it a bit. I played LoZ: Breath of the Wild and it was absolutely beautiful. *__* As soon as I have some disposable income, I might be buying one. *__* Once I find one, I mean, apparently they're hard to come by. XD

After getting a couple of emails from the mods over at getyourwordsout, I finally checked in. I'm sitting at 12,877 words and I signed up for the 75k challenge. That's...low. I'm hoping to get more work done over the summer.

...I have a lot of plans for the summer, haha. It's just that last summer was, eeeehhh, pretty emotionally fraught (for new friends, my dad passed away of cancer and I was a primary caregiver and while I absolutely do not regret being right beside him, it was also a huge devastation, obviously, and look at me making these disclaimers because I feel guilty even complaining that it was hard, haha wow) and then I've been so busy with school, it'll be nice to take a bit of a break and just work and create things and take in media and just, aaahh.

Anyway, haha, I got the email from StoryADay talking about the May challenge of, of course, writing a story a day. I'm not making any plans, since everytime I decide I'm going to Do The Thing the thing doesn't get done, but I'm eyeballing it.

Ugh. I hope you have a much better summer this year. I understand the devastation a death in the family can cause. I wasn't even close to my dad, but when he died it was pretty unreal how crappy and guilty I felt until I saw a therapist.

Writing can be a great reprieve in stressful times, so I hope you find joy in the process and good luck attaining your goals! :)

Yeah, it's awful. I think whether you're close to your parents or not, there's still a sense of loss of...continuity? Or just plain, like, normalcy, I guess? It's still a loss of someone who has always existed. I was very close with my dad and saw him almost every day so when he first passed there's was no way to not think about it. But things are getting better, slowly but surely.

Same here-- once I get disposable income, the switch is mine (Still have to save up for massive Orlando trip next year-- but probably around Christmas I'll bne able to swing it since they overwork us majorly during the holidays)

Yes, it's so cool! I was never interested in the Wii U but the Switch just seems really cool. I love that you can take the little joy-cons off and play with the screen propped up. It's just, dang.

I'm so sorry to hear about your father. I can not imagine a situation where dealing with being his caretaker would be easy.

I've seen ads for the Switch, but have not had a chance to play with one yet. *so jealous*

Thanks. It's definitely one of those situations where I'm glad I was there for it but also, wow, why did it have to happen.

It's a pretty impressive bit of hardware! The interface ran very smoothly too, with no loading times. I'm really interested in seeing what games get released on it!
