Mush and Fantastic Beasts review kinda

So someone over at [community profile] fandomsecrets posed the question: What fandom makes you happy?

And I thought about this and decide that Dreamwidth fandom makes me happy. My reading page. My friends here. We may not necessarily share fandoms and we may not always comment on each other's posts, but this place and the culture and various fandoms surrounding it make me happy.

So yeah, there's your mush for the day! :D

I think I mentioned this but we recently watched Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Dang I can't believe we gotta go from the suave creepiness of Colin Ferrell to Johnny Depp's "quirky" acting. Just awesome. Also, there were huge swaths of this film that absolutely could have been cut out of used for something way more interesting. In particular, the whole thing with the Erumpent was just bluh. And Tina was just kind of a bore? Like I see what they were trying to do with her but I wasn't feeling it.

However, QUEENIE WAS FUCKING AWESOME AND ADORABLE. Jacob and Newt were wonderful! And I felt bad for Credence! And the beasts were so great and I really would have loved to see more of them/Newt interacting with them! And I'm really glad fandom has clung to original!Graves rather than Depp!Graves. Of course, fandom has also decided Graves/Credence is the go-to ship, while I'm much more interested in Graves/Newt (second popular!) and Newt/Jacob (very unsurprised this isn't popular, fandom is kinda shallow tbh).

Anyway, if you're interested in Fire Emblem fandom (any of them!), [community profile] fe_fest is gearing up for another round! Basically, you leave prompts, you claim prompts, you create things for prompts! It seems a lot like [community profile] areyougame, if anyone is familiar with that! Tell me your ships and I'll leave prompts for you to snag if you want. :D

Awww! I'm loving all the varied fandom love on my reading page too, even if I don't share fandoms! It's just so nice to see creativity and enthusiasm inspired by other creative works!

I haven't seen the movie but ship Graves/Newt thanks to some h/c-centric fics.

Yeah, I'm totally a fan of Dreamwidth fandom. It's a good family.

I really agree about Dreamwidth fandom. I love seeing fannish stuff on my reading page, even when it's something I've never heard of -- it just sort of feels like everyone here is on the same wavelength in how we all enjoy our respective favourites. It's such a warm fuzzy fannish environment.

I agree so hard on everything you said about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them! Especially the characters and the shipping. But while I did start out looking for Jacob/Newt fic, I have to admit I've been won over by Credence/Graves after watching one too many AU vids on YouTube. *g*

Also, I'm still hoping for more Colin Farell. Grindelwald had to have the real Graves stashed somewhere for the polyjuice potion, right?

I'm really interested in all the different versions of how fandom interprets the real Graves. How much of his personality was in Grindelwald's performance? People weren't all that suspicious of him, after all. And some of my interest bleeds over into Credence, then. Did they know each other before Grindelwald took over? How does Credence deal with this man who is wearing a familiar face, but is a total stranger instead? And so on...

Spirits, yes! Can we petition for that somewhere? *g*

Totally agree with your thoughts on Fantastic Beasts!

Also agreed that fandom is pretty shallow. Though, TBH, I'm so in love with Jacob/Queenie and all of their interactions that I'm not really a fan of Newt/Jacob.

Basically. I love how many pictures people are posting and talking about things. AND I AM ONE FUCKING TROPHY AWAY FROM GETTING 100% on the main game!

I've hardly seen any fb fanworks around now I think about it. o.O I've seen gifsets and such on tumblr but not much else. Tina bored me too. She has a lot of promise as a character but I think she suffered further because Queenie WAS so amazing. It highlighted how....lack of anything Tina was.
