(not so brief) update!
I don't know how people recuperate from family being over for a week but I'm absolutely exhausted and I gotta go to work in about 30 minutes, so here's a more substantial update, haha.
There's was no drama between the people I thought there would be. There was certainly a great deal of disgust towards my niece (who is also that annoying boss I've mentioned) and her jackass boyfriend making out and shit at the baby's birthday party. This woman is 30 years old and was acting like a horny teenager. But for the family who were actually visiting from out of town, no drama, no arguing, it actually went well.
There are a lot of babies in this family. I held all of them.
It's so weird because okay, C and her daughters were visiting and C has always been my best friend but it's so weird how very much we're not on the same wavelength anymore. It really, really sucks. I mean, we still get along well and laugh and have good times but we're not, like, in each others brains anymore. Which, that's something we've both noticed before but it was so much more evident during this trip. I blame the baby, haha. But seriously, it really just means that our lives are going in different directions (while she's very much still interested in geeky shit, she's also very much into motherhood and being a new mother and it's true that babies tend to...take over everything. And you know, we also live half of the US away from each other which I'm sure has a big part to play. I don't know. The idea of drifting apart is normal, I guess, but it's also awful.
A friend came down from Tennessee and brought me a Tardis toy that lights up and makes sounds. He didn't realize I've not watched any new Who, haha. So I guess I'll have to do that now.
On Monday, we went to the mall! I didn't know there was a ThinkGeek store there. *___* So many Funko Pops. Also, while there we went to Sephora and I picked up the Modern Renaissance palette and some new eyeliner, and then C bought me the Make Believe in Yourself palette. Guys, I adore makeup and while I don't wear it to work (because dog hair floats everywhere) I do wear it quite a lot. :3
More fandom oriented update to come soon-ish, I just don't want this entry to be muddied.

And I feel you on drifting. I lost all of my childhood friends when I came out, so I suppose my break was much cleaner than it otherwise would have been. If I ever go home and bump into those people I doubt we'd even have anything to try to talk about.

Think Geek has actual stores? I thought they were strictly online. That is so cool!
Babies are lovely, but so time and energy consuming. It is hard to find the focus to look at anything else. Hopefully once the little one is a bit older she will have more time and energy to focus on other things.
