Tumblr, tea, plants, Christmas stuff

I finally went through my tumblr to see what has been tagged or pulled and they made some decisions that I. Don't understand??? Like this Victuuri piece was deleted and it's not...sexual...at all? They're asleep! Clothed! Makkachin is present! So that's something. XD I need to find out where people are posting fanart that allows NSFW now. :\a Besides DW of course, you guys will get all my dumb art. :3

One of my coworkers gave me a lil ziploc bag of some kind of homemade spice tea mix and oh man, I love it. I've never been much of a tea drinker (I've always desperately wanted to be!) but this stuff is so good. And it's filled with healthy stuff and vitamin C and it just makes me feel good to drink! I would love to give up coffee completely for tea, since I use extremely fattening coffee creamer, but we'll see. I've tried some herbal tea (not a fan!) and Earl Grey (better but nowhere near as good as the spice tea!). I suspect it's just something I'm going to have to experiment with. Let me know if y'all have any recommendations!

It's a cold but bright day here and my plants are very grateful to see the sun.

My bedside is so cozyyy. I love plants but I'm not terribly great at keeping them, so I mostly have cacti. The tree is new; his name is Carl so when he inevitably starts deteriorating I can yell "CORAL NO" ala Rick Grimes. XD

The only problem with all the sunshine is that it doesn't feel like Christmas at all and I'm already not really feeling it this year? I've been too broke for gift buying (but I'm back to full-time at work!), I'm still getting over the breakup (which, the breakup itself was great thing to have happen, tbh, but there are still a ton of negative feelings), and not feeling terrible fond of most of my family (guys, don't ever work with your family, it's a terrible idea!).

But I definitely appreciate the time off from work it brings, haha, and I like the music and the decorations. Idk, this Christmas is so weird. I don't really want to do anything with anyone, I just want to play games and draw and hang out on DW. XD

Maybe you'd like a chai tea more? That tends to have more of the spices.

I feel you on Christmas. I kind of resent spending my bonus on presents for other people, when I have plenty of things that I actually need to buy for myself and can't because I had to buy Christmas presents. I'm also just annoyed with those people, so that doesn't make me feel more generous. And the lack of snow makes it feel terribly unChristmaslike. But at least it's time off work! :)

Aw man, that really sucks. Maybe your gifts will be the things you need, although it often seems like people focus more on frivolous gifts over practical ones. :< But yes, the time off work is very welcome!

It's possible! I am mostly just grumpy over Christmas in general, so anything for a chance to complain. XD I am also very ready to have some money, so I hate spending it.

A lot of the stories I'm hearing about the Tumblrgeddon haven't. been. good.

Like I just don't understand a lot of their decisions-- I mean yeah, I understand purging the porn BUT like innocent little pictures of people falling asleep in the same bed? Big resounding NOPE.

Yeah, like, I don't agree with purging porn, obviously, but I understand that was their focus. But sweeping wholesome pictures in with it just doesn't make sense. I suppose an anti could have reported it; I doubt tumblr actually checks before deleting stuff. But who the heck would be anti-Victuuri? That's the canon ship of the show! XD

From what I've heard, a lot of the flagging was done by bots. The problem with bots is that you train an image-identifying program by showing it a bunch of pictures like 'this is porn' and 'this is not porn', it has some program that develops a definition for 'porn' and 'not porn'. You run it through enough labeled tests that it gets whatever degree of accuracy you want, then you let it loose on the unlabeled fields.

Usually most porn-seeking bots learn that porn has a lot of skin-tones and curves. The bots do not learn what human genitals look like, because most of the not-porn doesn't need that. So any picture with a lot of curves and skin-tones will get flagged, from half-naked people snuggling to desert sand dunes.

Ooooh, that makes sense! In a terrible, "this is is the easiest and laziest way to implement this policy" kind of way. Although if someone's photos of desert sand dunes got deleted because of this, I. That's kind of funny to me haha. Those sexy peaks and valleys. XD

Tumblr flagged a picture of a bruise on my arm from where my crutches had pinched a piece of skin, and a picture from when I was decorating and managed to get paint in my hair. I... don't even know LMAO

There are a lot of teas that come with spice flavorings! If Teavana were still around I could make a lot of recommendations, but I'll check the grocery aisle for easily available teas and see if I can send you some suggestions - I only ever drink tea, and I buy a lot from Very Fancy Tea Places that are Quite Spendy, but there should be good inexpensive alternatives available!

I hadn't realized Teavana disappeared! I used to go there to get tea for my niece's husband. :\a But yes, I would appreciate that a lot! I wouldn't mind buying more expensive tea online if it's tasty, haha.

My coworker is going to give me the recipe for her spice tea mix so I'll be able to make my own too. :3

Yeah, teavana stores weren't showing the same profit as Starbucks stores (spoiler: literally nothing in retail does that) so shareholders got fussy and so Teavana got the axe. GRUMP.
