I bought a new laptop

nansliceI bought a new laptop. I haven't had one in years, having bought a little chromebook that ticked along quite well before getting dinged up in a cross-country move. It's...odd, being back on a laptop. Nostalgic, really; I did my best fandoming on an old HP Pavillion when I was a young 20-something. This one is a Dell Inspiron but both in Windows, so the environment feels very much the same.
I've been...well. I really have! Things have been a whirlwind here although when I try to sit down and reason out why, I come up empty. I've been working quite a bit and although it's a retail environment, it's one of the best jobs I've ever had. I've been playing a lot of Onmyoji, which is such a satisfying gacha game having played Genshin Impact.
Oh...Genshin. A really charming game, for sure, but also a frustrating, tedious one. Extremely stingy when it comes to materials you need to level your characters and not quite enough content to hold my attention. I haven't logged in in quite some time and haven't done any of the Serenitea Pot stuff yet; I love housing and crafting in games so that might be the thing that brings me back to it.
PLUS. Genshin's fandom is extremely toxic and full of antis. I just don't have the patience for navigated that kind of atmosphere, especially since even non-anti people talk about and interact with antis. I have so many keywords blocked but twitter is only okay when it comes to blocking things so. It's frustrating.
Discord really seems to be where much of fandom is happening but gosh, I'm terrible at keeping up with that kind of chat environment. I'm in the Exchanges After Dark server and it's busy enough that it's all I can do to keep up with it.

Yeah I've heard things about Genshin's horrible fandom. The game itself is supposed to be good, but...yeah.

It has some problems but I don't think they break the game and are probably bonuses for other people! But yeah, the fandom suuuucks. To the level of bullying a teen to commit suicide and then cheering over that. It's real bad.

Too fast, too chaotic, and the anti-free server I joined seemed weirdly obsessed with kicking anti hornet nests and ignoring any collateral damage they caused by stirring up the little bastards. Wasn't a great intro, so now I just hang out in a private server with my sister, my spouse, and a mutual friend, which basically combined our old IM threads into a group chat. DW may be semi-dead, but I guess that's more my speed for fannish buds. (I do find myself scrolling through Tumblr again, which is ugh, but my blocklist and filters are just about airtight. Still gotta report pornbots everywhere in the tags and new followers, though. What an effective NSFW ban!)
