Snowflake Challenge, Day 1: Introduce yourself

Hello! I'm Nan! She/her, 39 (turning 40 in February, whoa), and I've been in fandom for most of my life (got started as a wee 13 year old). It has been my main source of friends and interaction through the years. I've been in many, many fandoms over the years; HP, MCU, Final Fantasy (primarily 8, 12, 15, and a Realm Reborn), LOTR. I'm currently neck deep in Warhammer 40k fandom but I'm trying to spread my wings, take in new and different media, and hopefully gather a fun little collection of fandoms. :D I started out as a fanfic author but nowadays I'm primarily a fanartist, although I would really love to get more words out in 2026. I typically ship m/m but I enjoy drawing porn, romance, and gen art. :3

I live in Seattle with cypher, four cats, a dog, and a bearded dragon. I work an extremely non-glamorous job that I enjoy a lot.

I want to be more present in fandom and on DW, as both of these give me sanity but man, am I terrible and staying focused (I have diagnosed ADHD), lmaoooo.

And IIRC you and I have been mutuals since the LJ days, or at least early DW. :D Spreading your wings can be fun, I wouldn't have discovered some of my recent faves without it! Hope you find something you really love!

(The grim darkness is SO OOT that I love it but I can't take it seriously (although the latest books and the Horus Heresy prequel series have been slowly moving towards dark fantasy)

Happy to see another Final Fantasy fan! I too can be quite terrible with consistency on DW, but I wish you luck with Snowflake this year :)

I should play FFXVI sometimes! Although it looked kind of grim, I've heard that it's more lighthearted than it seems, which would be pretty nice. :3

Warhammer seems to have so much fun lore. Very much tempted by the Owlcat game. If you're looking to spread your wings for more m/m, Heated Rivalry and Interview With the Vampire may just be calling your name ;)

The depth of lore and thousands upon thousands of years of history are what really got me into in the first place! I wanted a big, meaty canon to sink my teeth into! The Owlcat game is super fun and does a great job summing up and explaining the pertinent lore. Whenever a Warhammer specific work comes up, you can hover over it to get a quick explanation of what it means. :3

I was a big fan of Anne Rice's works back in the day but I've not managed to started on the current show! I'm much less likely to get into a fandom when the canon itself backs my ships; I feel like the only time that's actually happened was ATLA (I was a Kataang shipper through and through, although nowadays I'm probably more apt to read Sokka/Zuko). I've loved seeing the enthusiasm for Heated Rivalry though! It seems to have really awakened that fandom energy for a lot of people!
