In Celebration of Old-School Livejournal is a great, great article that had me falling into a well of emotions, aaaaah.

Oh, LJ. I miss when you weren't a broken mess of bad decisions. It was the perfect mix of social and private, you could lock things but you could have amazing threads that never got lost because the site didn't move a mile a minute like Tumblr.

^ This.

It's one of the reasons why I love Livejournal (and here for the matter): you can look back at threads that could never be lost and for safekeeping, you could bookmark them to your memories for later. On Tumblr, you can fave them, but it means that you have to go drowning to a sea of your faves, just to find the the post you liked. I also loved the privacy on Livejournal. You can make things members only (very nifty for music posts) or share your personal stories among your mutuals that you can trust. Yeah, Tumblr has the new messaging system a la Facebook's messaging system, but Livejournal to me had balance of both social and private.

I guess it's because of the stream of endless pictures and content? We live in a world that likes when things move super fast, after all.

I just wish Tumblr had privacy settings. That's all I ask, then people don't have to worry their personal stuff will be spread all over the place.
