I've not commented/replied to comments on LJ recently because I don't want to accept the terms of service thing, haha. But what do? I have to accept to even be able to go to LJ and if I accept, I'm definitely just going to delete. How annoying. LJ, why are you the way that you are? :\

Yeah, the TOS thing is kind of creeping me out. I accepted, but from here on out I'm going to pretty much only post on DW.

Yeah I think I'm going to accept just so I can tell my friends over there that I'll not be crossposting. :\

I need to save so many things from LJ, like rants or people's posts that I wanna keep. I feel funny about deleting my LJ forever because I've had it for 15 years, but I don't like what I'm hearing about the new TOS.

For now, I deleted my fic journal and just won't be crossposting from DW anymore.

The LJ that I currently have isn't the same one I had way back (I deleted that in like 2010) so it doesn't bother me too much to delete. There's not nostalgia or good feels attached to it.

I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do about LJ, so I haven't read this post too closely yet, but maybe something in it could be helpful?

I'm on the fence about it - I've clicked the box on the agreement, so I could go and see what my LJ-only friends were doing, but most of them seem to be unbothered. I'm not unbothered, but I don't know if I want to delete my LJ just yet. I might shut down cross posting though.

I'm going to end up agreeing so that I can make a post saying I'll not be crossposting any longer. It's such an annoyance, haha.

I've read via network that you can get around agreeing to the TOS by disabling Javascript, then the button won't pop up, and it takes you straight to the log-in page instead.

That worked to reply to comment but when I tried to make a farewell post, it stopped me from doing so. :\

The kicker? The new TOS only applies to Free accounts. All the paid ones are still in the USA. :/ So annoyed.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. I mean, if that's true and it's not just a rumor floating around, but from what I read of the TOS they said something about the new TOS not applying to paid accounts? Or not being legally binding to Paid accounts?

wait, WHAT? I have a permanent account, so that's actually really relevant to me.

That's just what I've seen and understood from my own reading of the tos. I'm not positive though because I don't speak legalese.

on research, I think it just says our money is still handled in the US. Another DW user I found via network asked them if it applied ot her since paid, and they basically said yep.

I left LJ when it first traded hands, like when DW and the Org opened up. I can say that while the Org has it's issues, it's more mindful of the user base than LJ. If they could just get a good mobile version up it'd be close to perfect.

I deleted my original journal but I made a new one relatively recently to keep up with some people. But that just means I'll be comfortable deleting all the entries, haha.

what did you end up doing? my current plan is accept, import, delete. :(
