nansliceThank you to everyone who replied to my video game recs post! I ended up buying Mario Kart 7 and Fire Emblem: Awakening.
I'm speeding through Mario Kart and eeeeh?? Maybe because it just seems really easy but it's not really holding my attention? I love the whole mood of it and it's kind of a nostalgia bomb but eh, I might be turning it in soon for credit.
NOW. Fire Emblem. FIRE EMBLEM.
I'm playing on easy and casual because I'm not a very good strategist and I don't want my characters to be permadead when I inevitably screw up and get them killed. XD I'm on chapter 8 and have played all the optional battles that have shown up.
I created a character named Ariadne and promptly got S ranking with Chrom because he's kind of dreamy and I want to romance him. ;3; I'm working on Sully and Frederick's ranking and Frederick and Virion accidentally got a C ranking. I also weirdly ship Ricken and Lon'qu because they fought beside each other a couple of times and I know it was all stock conversation (they don't have any kind of support with each other) but I really liked Lon'qu's husky, angry voice paired with Ricken's cutie patootie voice, hahaha sob. I don't think they can get support though? When they fight together, nothing happens. OH WELL.
AND GAIUS. GAIUS. As soon as he showed up I was like I'M RECRUITING THAT GUY. And I was nervous because he attacked Frederick, he attacked Frederick, he attacked Mr. "Pick a god and pray" and I just knew Frederick was going to going to kill him but he only took him down to about a third health so I was able to get Chrom over and talk to him. I actually don't know if he could die or if he's one of those characters that you have to recruit (I'm playing with absolutely no guide or walkthrough) but I was concerned anyway.
I FREAKING LOVE LISSA, she is so precious and I think I'm going to get her and Lon'qu together because, ugh, she is precious and tiny and he is hot a seems kind of big? And she's so girly and he's afraid of girls????? fuUCK.
I also really, really love Maribelle and her weird obsession with Lissa, aaah. It's adorable and creepy. Calling her treasure? Being overly concerned about her? I'm digging it.
I don't care for Sumia at all but Pegasus Knights are handy once they've leveled up a bit. BUT THE LEVELING UP IS SUCH A STRUGGLE UUUGGGHHH. I have Cordelia now which is nice. ;3;
I knew Marth was a woman way before the big reveal, it was so obvious, hahaha. I was so confused when everyone was like "HE'S SO STRONG, WHOA." Like, guys. That's a woman. Come on.
ANYWAY. As for the plot, eeeeh, handwaving that, I kind of understand what's going on but I'm going to be honest, I'm mostly here for the shipping. Yeah, the Risen are bad, Plegia is bad, Regna Ferox is pretty cool, bluh, bluh, I want these two pretty people to fight together so I can watch them awkwardly flirt.
I'm probably going to return Mario Kart and keep credit on my account. I'm definitely going to buy Fire Emblem: Fates when it comes out next month* and I'm so sloooow at playing games omg. It's embarrassing.
*Even though the gay options are pretty, uh, not great representation (and I'm not saying this because I'm mad about them because ngl, the male gay option is actually right up my alley, hahahafmdklsafdag but still the creepy sadistic thief and the obsessive stalker are the two gay - actually bi - options and that's not great). Still looking forward to it, lmao.
