(no subject)

Finished season 3 of Sherlock and I gotta say, this is the gayest show about heterosexual men I've ever watched.

EVERYTHING SHERLOCK DOES IS FOR JOHN????????????????????

HIS HEART LITERALLY RESTARTED WHEN MORIARTY TOLD HIM JOHN WAS IN DANGER???????????????

HE MURDER MAGNUSSEN SO THAT JOHN COULD BE HAPPY WITH MARY????????????? EVEN THOUGH HE KNEW HE WAS GOING TO BE SENT ON A SUICIDE MISSION????????????????????????

Like okay, I like Mary well enough, she's pretty adorable, but I am super not invested in that marriage at all, like dang, why should I care about it? There's was no build up there at all, she just showed up while Sherlock was gone. The season started and there she was. Naaaaaaah.

I really don't want to be one of those people who hates a (female) character because she's "gets in the way" of my ship but. BUT.

ALTHO I quite liked Janine, hahaha, she was pretty dang funny. I'm also interested in just what it was that she and Sherlock did, since apparently they didn't have sex. Hmmm. :\a

This is the season where the writing really seemed to go downhill, hahaha.

I dunno when I'll get around to watching season 4. Probably tomorrow? Maybe?

I didn't hate the John/Mary thing, but I agree, the show is more about the bromance going on. I'm not sure I'm sold on them both being romantically in love with each other. I could see Sherlock having those feelings, but not so much John if that makes sense? I do also get this feeling of John being kind of a nomad soul who can't settle for one thing for a long time, too. It's just a really interesting dynamic that they have. Doesn't seem to fit any traditional relationship tropes.

I just don't get the vibe from John period, and not because he says he's not gay. Some guys say that and it's clear they're lying, lol. I think he and Sherlock will have that forever friendship and if it hypothetically did turn into something more it'd probably work, but honestly, Sherlock comes off as very...asexual in nature. He doesn't seem interested in sex. For him, the arousement is all intellectual. In fandom, I'm not against them being together, but I don't see it as cannon any more than John and Mary being one true loves, either. lol. But it makes for fun imaginings and so many potential wonderful stories, because it is plausible to a point and I think the writers embrace that a little when they're working on the show.

Yes, I can see him being fascinated by how it works, lol. I just don't tie that into a normal libido if that makes sense? IDK Sherlock is just peculiar and that's what makes him so interesting in general, and also his relationship with John so interesting and full of possibility. :D XD

But no, I doubt they'll ever go there.

Season 4 I don't think captures it as nicely as 2. That was my favorite I think.

I only watched these episodes once back when they came out so I honestly don't remember a ton from season 3, but yeah, the writing definitely went down after season 2.

Which... I'm really tempted to say generally happens after you get rid of Moriarty, mostly because I know the author of the original books intended that to be the end. Popularity forced him bring Holmes back, and I feel this pattern has been relived over and over again since. But maybe that's just me and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in fact doesn't roll over in his grave every time Sherlock Holmes turns out to not be dead. :P

Anyway, yeah, about the gayest non-gay not-couple... truth. Sherlock and John will always be a pair in some form forever. I feel like I liked Mary more in this last season than when she first showed up but... spoilers. I didn't dislike her before, but as you've said, it just seemed sort of forced.

I don't even remember who Janine is, so obviously I'm going to have to rewatch those episodes.

That trope decently describes the primary ship I write recently, so... XD There's a few reasons why I like this show despite all the things that have been disappointing. You know, not like I've been wearing a bracelet with a Sherlock quote on it practically every day for 2+ years or anything. "I may be on the side of the angels, but don't think for one second that I am one of them." If you want one I can direct you to the person who made it.

You are getting into it late, but just think how much waiting that saved you, not having to deal with the years between seasons.

Hey, you got yourself some Sherlock icons! *g*

Season three is confusing and wacky sometimes, and often feels like pulled straight from fanfic. (And honestly, some fics I've read did it a lot better than canon.) I still love so many moments, and enjoyed rewatching it. I was very pleased about having so many Mycroft scenes, and I still melt when Mycroft says "Your loss would break my heart!". Awwwwww ♥

Yeah, I'm all caught up again. Now would be the perfect time for watching season four, but that will have to wait, because I can't sit at the computer for long because of the pain. Right now I'd love to have a laptop, or a way to connect my computer to my tv. *g*

I really need an icon of Sherlock and Mycroft together. *g*

Haha, I love weird alien Sherlock, but I'm intrigued by the Holmes family, too. That scene where Mrs. Hudson says "Your mother has a lot to answer for." And Sherlock says "I have a list. Mycroft has a file." - it makes me so curious about their family life and their upbringing. And sure, they're living in that nice little terraced house now, but I don't think they lived there with three children and a dog, so that huge old mansion with the wood panelling that we see with Redbeard running towards Sherlock - is it imagination, or memory?

At the moment I have to keep my leg elevated, so it hurts to sit at my desktop pc for longer than ten minutes. I have no idea how long it will take, it's my first torn ligament, so no point of reference. The couch it is.

I think just in general though, season 3 humanized Sherlock a lot.
Yes, that's it. I sometimes wonder if that's what they thought the fans wanted to see? You know, those who think of Sherlock as a smug arsehole, instead of a weird alien. *g*

I imagine that has been explored quite a bit in fandom, hahaha.
I imagine so, yes. I haven't read much in that regard, and the only ones I remember are really old. Timeline of season one, where John and Sarah are still kind of a thing. So, lacking lot of canon information. Maybe I should try checking out some newer stuff now.

Yeah, the doc said right away that it could be six weeks in my case - just one ligament torn, not multiples. Still, bummer.
