Friends, who's excited for the eclipse?! I sure am! I live in the path of totality too so that's exciting. I've already talked to all of my professors about taking Monday off and I have my little glasses ready and everything. God, I love space. I don't understand what's going on most of the time but dang if it's not all fascinating.

Mom's going to be going with my sister to pick up the puppy in Mississippi so I'll have the house to myself this weekend. \o/ I'm really excited about this ngl. It'll be me and the puppers and the kitties, eating food and watching a ton of tv and...well, reading a ton because that is what my homework for everything is, haha. Anyway, I'm excited and I have a whole list of things I want to get done and I imagine I won't get very much of anything done.

Does anyone have any opinions about the anime Hyouka? It looks pretty cute and I really like high school mystery anime so I'm thinking it might be right up my alley. And speaking of watching things, is anyone else watching The Sinner on the USA network? Holy crap. It's intense.

Aaaaaaaaaahhhhh. The horror track hasn't posted a schedule yet and neither has the writers track. I'm really interested to see what they've got planned.

Anyway, that's really all that's going on with me! I'm working a short day tomorrow, since my sister, the groomer, won't be there so we have exactly three bath dogs. I'll work a little bit, get off, and then have nothing of great import (or at least, nothing outside of my house) until Tuesday.

I am so hyped.

I liked Hyouka! I found the pacing to be a little slow, but I'm used to mystery shows like Detective Conan where there's a new case every 2-3 episodes. But the animation is gorgeous, and the characters are unique and develop throughout the series.

I've been meaning to re-watch it, so I think I will, haha. Maybe we can chat about it?

I feel a little bad that I can't find The Sinner as interesting as I know it is. =/ I dunno what it is. But I mean, I'm still watching it - lol, mostly cuz my mom and sis are so into it. I think at this point I'm sticking with it just to see if the cop guy gets with the dominatrix chick or not. xD (But also, I peeked at a synopsis of the book so I could understand where the storyline was going. I do like how the show is handling it so that is another reason I'm still watching.)

I'm hype for the eclipse! My coworker ordered us glasses and we're gonna take a late lunch so we can go out and appreciate it. SO COOL.

My parents and I are traveling into the path of totality for the eclipse! Very much excited for it. (I might be checking the weather prediction for Monday in our destination a lot, hoping for sunshine.)

I'm excited about the eclipse! I don't get to see it this time (I did see one when I was very small - I remember my dad taking me out on the porch to see it) but even so, there's going to be lots of images and science reporting.

I also live in the path of totality, and I am very excited. Since I teach astronomy, I've given half a dozen talks this week, and get to spend most of Monday helping with our science fair out on the baseball field*. The only downside is that it is our first day of classes, so I still need to prepare for that, so I'll probably be working Sunday.

* One of the events is that the local minor league team is playing a game that will break for totality. The university has a science fair outside. As the physics and astronomy department, we're bringing out some telescopes for solar viewing, and that means having volunteers to staff them. There is also scientist 'speed dating' -- a bunch of scientists volunteer to sit at tables and people can cycle through things to them for five minutes a piece.

i'm HYPE HYPE HYPE 4 THE TOTAL ECLIPSE!! i didn't think i would be able 2 see it b/c of my physical issues but then i found out my parents were planning 2 go 2 tennessee & was able 2 get them 2 agree 2 take me (altho now my dad can't make it so it'll just be me & my mom). SO HYPE!!! IT'S MY FIRST ONE

i loved hyouka! it turned out to be like, my perfect mystery anime, in that the mysteries are all p low-key and everyday, yet they still make it really interesting. i always call it "banal high school mystery anime" haha, BUT I DON'T MEAN IT IN A BAD WAY AT ALL. the characters are excellent and it's kyoani who ofc always make good-looking shows but this one is one of my faves in that respect too. they did so well with the tiny little details of character movement for showing emotion & their personalities. also the MC is voiced by my fave voice actor haha. SO ANYWAY, YES. TOTALLY RECOMMEND! there were def some arcs i liked more than others (the school festival arc being my ABSOLUTE FAVE, and the swimming pool OVA imo being the low point), BUT OVERALL IT'S ALL FANTASTIC.

I love having the house to myself for a while. There is something about it that is really relaxing.

We are taking out kids out see the eclipse and I'm really excited too. We'll only have 60% coverage, but that is enough to be pretty cool.
