Plant your hope with good seeds

My interview yesterday went very well! I'm going to keep looking because the pay is frankly terrible for this area, but I'm still happy it went well. And of course if they extend an offer and I've not got any other prospects, I'm very likely to accept it. |D The vibes were good at least!

Warhammer 40k Kill Team: Nightmare released and we managed to snap one up (I'd called the day before released and asked if they might get any extras in and he said maybe. So Will and I headed down and he'd set one aside for me ;o;) and have been hard at work on that! That store (and maybe all stores, I honestly do not know) is having a "New Year, New Army" thing where if you bring a completed army in, that you started this year, you get a cool medallion. And it's only while supplies last so I've got to get this Mandrake army finished! I also have a very new Stormcast Eternals Spearhead army started but it's much bigger than the Mandrake army so I better stick with that one.

I woke up this morning and mowed the entire back yard! And then I washed a second load of dishes (Will washed the first), and also straightened up and organized our messy, messy countertops. My spice rack is visible now! Speaking of which, we finally got the oven fixed and I made chocolate chip and pecan muffins. So. good. I'm so glad to have my oven back. ;o;

Whew! Update on the doggo: Stella is responding to treatment and is keeping food down! She's now on a completely wet food diet, which gets expensive considering her goal weight is 70lbs, but that's okay. She's a good old dog and she's worth it. <3

My mom also seems to be responding to her treatments well; we're remaining cautiously optimistic. ;3;

Things are continuing apace with work! It seems like every time I think I have something down, something else goes wrong; my boss and coworkers all seem to like me and I've been called a rockstar and an overachiever so I think I might be doing something right? But also, aaahhh, I ended this week being called out on a really stupid mistake. :( BUT NOW IT IS THE WEEKEND AND I HAVE NO PLANS WHATSOEVER. I mean, I have house maintenance stuff which is something I generally enjoy. And also probably some fandom stuff; I have several exchange deadlines drawing near and I need to finish things up. The last thing I've posted was this NSFW Uriel Ventris/Honsou comic for Flash Exchange Made Them Do It. Part of me is horrified that I didn't ink and paint this; the other part of me is pleased that I did this amount of work in a day and a half. You win some, you lose some, I guess. :P

I'm also slowly (so slowly) working on my seasonofkink card. I, for some reason, am super into sequential art right now, so everything I'm working on is extremely slow going. XD

My plant shelf came in! I'm so pleased with how nice it looks. ;3; And you might think, Nan, they are in front of a nice big window, what do you have those plant lights for? Friends, some of these lil motherfuckers need so much light. And I live in Seattle. So, plant lights.


Someone was selling some lithops in one of the facebook plant communities so I had to scoop them up. They're so weird, I love them!


This little bloodleaf arrived looking pitiful and dead. It was just a cutting so I stuck it in some water and hoped for the best and lo and behold, it not only grew roots but also grew new leaves! I'm so proud of it! ;3;


Also one night this week, idek which one, the moon was looking especially spooky hiding behind this tree. I was very pleased.


And then, a photo of Mt Rainier being out and lovely. ♥ Always good to see that snowy top.


My partner and I were invited by a friend down to Olympia to partake in this adorable little pottery place, where you pick out a piece you want to paint and then they fire and glaze it for you. This is what we came up with! Mine's the little space cactus. I'm really excited to see how they come out! Our friend is coming up for the 4th of July and is going to bring them up.

Anyways, that's probably enough of an update for me! I'm so glad it's the weekend!

Red is fine! He's still limping a bit but he's using the wounded leg and is now a happy back yard dog.

Selphie is fine! The base of her tail was swollen and the vet said I caught it in time before it could become a hot spot. She either was stung or bitten by something. She was prescribed some things to get her back to 100% but she's good about taking medication. Or rather, she's suspicious when she gets treats laced with pills but she never manages to, like, not eat the pill, haha.

My progress in FFXV has slowed because I'm, like, obsessed with watercolors right now. I don't know what is happening but I want to paint so many things and so that's what I'm doing. I have another piece in the works. I'm really enjoying this. *___* I blame the materials. I bought a hardbound Strathmore watercolor journal a few months ago and am finally using it and because it's the fanciest journal I own, everything in it needs to be my Very Best Work...but somehow be done Very Quickly, lmao. It'll die down soon but I want to ride the high while it's here.

We fired the bather at work and hired someone I'd worked with at a previous job (when I worked at the vet hospital) so that's pretty great! But it seems like we've been so busy and there's been so much work to do and I'm just so tired. ;3;

The Civil War event for Avengers Academy ended and I got Bucky! And I only spent a little money! /o\ I'm so weak. I also got Madame Hydra, who I'm largely ambivalent about but I lovelovelove her voice so! Eh. The academy looks so bare without Hydra members wandering around but I like that I can go back to focusing on the regular missions.

I turned in my resignation letter in at vet hospital job. My boss and I spoke and had a pretty long heart to heart, which was nice. She was very understanding about my reasoning (it's better if I'm home in the evening because that's when my parents start getting tired and I need to be home with them; medical stuff freaks me out pretty badly now). I initially told her that I would work out a two weeks notice but she told me that wouldn't be necessary and told me I could come back whenever I wanted. Which was also very nice.

BUT NOW I'M FREEEEEE I'M FREEEEEE FROM THAT PLAAAAAAAAAACE.

Despite being super hot and sunshiney, today feels like autumn. It's making me feel nostalgic (like everything else, haha).

My first two days of class were okay. I've a feeling I'm going to adore geology and the professor who teaches it; she's enthusiastic and wonderfully nerdy. History is going to be a struggle. Not the subject, because I love ancient world history, but the professor is going to be a problem. Fortunately I'm the type of student who can completely ignore the professor if I need to. Metal etching is intimidating and painting 3 is going to be fiiiiine. First day of art crit is Monday and first day of geo lab is Tuesday. We'll see how it goes. It was really nice to see my school friends again and experiencing people enthused about seeing me was a nice thing. XD

Last night, Kiddo and I lay in bed and watched Spirited Away. My tv is quite small (a 20 inch) so I pulled the stand until it was touching the foot of the bed at one corner, which made the space feel smaller. That, plus the window unit running, a small lamp on, and the dogs asleep in their crates made the whole thing very cozy. ;3;

Work continues to be very stressful, mainly because the woman hired to be the new office manager apparently doesn't know what the hell she's doing, even after a month of training. She had a panic attack last Thursday when I can in and I try to be sympathetic but it's difficult when she's already cried on my shoulder three times. This may not be the place for her. My boss has also decided to throw more responsibilities my way, which was pretty stupid since she knows classes have started and I'm going to be working much less. It's so annoying.

I'm hoping that come Monday, everything settles down. I'll be off work which will be nice, so hopefully when I get home from school I'll be able to sit down and finish the things I meant to get done before classes started, lmao whoops.
