A real life post!
Dec. 9th, 2018 10:26 pmToday was a pretty quiet, introspective day (aside from the unwelcome family visit). There's a quote from The Haunting of Hill House: "The rest is confetti." It's really, really stuck with me. It's so important. ;3; And especially as we creep closer to 2019, it just becomes more and more important. I'm using it slightly differently than the show does, I think? The full quote is ( Not really spoilery but just in case ) And I'm kind of using it as love is what is important. Love is what matters. Get rid if what I don't love. Get rid of what hurts me. If it doesn't bring me joy or at least contentment (because it's impossible to feel joy constantly, can you imagine? That would be madness!) then it doesn't belong in my life.
There are caveats, of course! I don't love work but I still gotta go; it makes all the things that bring me happiness more accessible! I don't love bills but I still gotta pay them! But everything else? Everything that's not necessary, that I cling to for whatever reason? That's all just confetti. Not important. Stuff that I need to sweep aside. Fill that space up with something that does bring me happiness.
And it's difficult. But I'm getting better at it. And I'm hoping that by the time we leave 2018 behind, I'll be even better at it. I'll be able to focus on the things that I truly love. And leave the confetti behind.
(I will absolutely be making more of these posts before 2019 hits okay, I'm endlessly introspective haha)
