Echoing everything you said here, there's been such a dearth of fandom cohesion since the move from LJ, and I just can't get into fandom on Tumblr. Like you said, it's great if I want to hunt for art or gifs or the like, but there's no discussion. At best, there's some back and forth that you catch snippets of. I don't want to reblog something every time I want to add a thought, but that's what's required there, and it's ridiculous.
I added fan_flashworks to my reading list, hopefully it inspires something!
