So we went to go see Star Wars a couple of days ago!
Holy shit, what a fun ride. Rey, Finn, and Poe are all adorable and I ended up shipping Finn and Poe because of course I did. They had the slow meadow run towards each other, even though they weren't actually in a meadow, and Poe gave Finn his name and his jacket and it was so wonderful and I want fic exploring Finn's attempts to work through his training and programming and learning how to be a person again and how to interact with other people and I want Poe to be there the whole way helping him and guiding him but also wanting so much and not knowing how to deal with that because, because Finn doesn't know how and Poe doesn't want to take advantage, but the universe is a hard place and lives are always getting shorter and AUGH.
And Rey. Reeeeeey. I love Rey so much, I love that she was hard without being a jerk, and that she was so scared but also so courageous and trying so hard to do the right thing. Aaaahh, I want a video game of her travels through the galaxy, yessss. Also, her interactions with Finn were so great and when she hugged Leia and I was like nooo, emotions. ;;; I love that she and Han got along so well and he was so impressed with her and she ended up going off with Chewie, yesssss.
BB-8 was so damn precious. When he rolled over to the low-powered R2-D2, I had more emotions. So much personality in this little guy. I love droids. They're precious. ;3;
I was not impressed with Kylo Ren. It's just really hard to be intimidated by someone constantly tearing up. Also, keep your helmet on, bro. And since I didn't like him, Han's death by him was also pretty meh. It's like, man, don't try and bring your asshole son back from the dark side. I am not okay with that at all.
When Rey found Luke, he looked so sad. I wanted to give him a hug. ;3;
I'm not familiar with what happens in the EU but man, apparently Luke, Leia, and Han's lives kind of sucked after Return of the Jedi. I mean, it would have to - there can't be a story without villains - but it hurts my feelings so much that they fought so hard for peace and had that moment of heroic victory....and then afterwards screwed it up so badly. It makes sense but it's still sad. :( I didn't want them to have such a sad narrative.
I still want Chewie to be my best friend. ;3;
There are too many novels for this movie and I'm going to buy all of them (I might have already bought Star Wars The Force Awakens: Before the Awakening whoops). I might have to save it and read on the plane.
