Fandom Update

My mom and I watched the first episode of the fourth season of Sherlock and what the fuck did we even look at? I don't even really remember the case that well, I just remember the social drama aspects. Why was John flirting with that woman? Did he physically cheat on her or was it only emotional cheating? I'M VERY OFFENDED WITH THIS. I don't want John to be the type of person to cheat. :( Also, uh, not digging Sherlock having friends? Where's my weirdo, 'everyone hates him', Sherlock? I want that guy back. And now Mary's dead and that whole scene seemed really hackneyed and overacted and John's mad at Sherlock and what????

We'll probably finish up this season because we're completionists but dang, what a terrible way to start things lmao.

Also so I watch Law and Order: SVU, right? I know, I know, but look, it's my mom's show, it's a thing that has been around and on my tv ever since it started and it's weirdly comforting. Anyway, I've never been interested in its fandom at all. I didn't even know it had a fandom outside of like, older women on message boards or whatever.

But apparently I just need the right ship. Enter Dominick "Sonny" Carisi and Rafael Barba.

GUYS IT'S WEIRD TO BE READING FIC OF THIS SHOW???? Like, I have never had any interest ever of having anything to do with this and yet, here we are. I'm going to back and watch the 16th and 17th seasons. The 18th season, from what I remember, is basically garbage, but I'll rewatch it when it hits netflix. XD

What the Rain Washed Up and Away by slashy: something small for leslielol, who asked that i write more barisi, and then prompted me both “accidental date” and “shitty weather”. (Rated G)

He’ll eat you alive.

“Definitely.”

No one ever accused Sonny Carisi of being a coward. Or of having a strong sense of self-preservation. (Rated E)

Absolution by Robin: After the latest sins of the Catholic church are revealed, Carisi feels like his faith is shaken. But he finds reassurance in the last person he expected to follow him to a church. Takes place after Season 17, Episode 18: Unholiest Alliance. (Rated Teen and Up)

Also I made the mistake of reading a fic that hasn't been updated in a year and I'm so mad at myself. *___* It's so good but I have little hope of it updating. ;3;

ANYWAY, let's see. I think that's about it right now. :\a I need to find some icons now. XD

Yeah, the first episode is my least favourite of season four.

Apparently it's the worst of the season! Which I mean, ouch, what a way to start, haha.

I most definitely thought so. I mean, season four is a hot mess. It's like season three, only even weirder. I still enjoyed the second and third episode, but for very different reasons, and episode two was probably my favourite. Some really great character moments - Mrs. Hudson gets the best lines in the whole show - the actual crime plot was pretty chilling, and I loved the story-telling in this one. Episode three is all about Mycroft for me. *g*

I haven't watched it, but I heard Ep4.01 was the worst far and above...

But oh wow, I was like "I recognize the name vlieger but where from?"

And then I hit their profile and they used to be in my fandom! So that was a nice surprise to find them on your list (though I don't think we share a fandom anymore) (she said, with tears in her eyes at recognizing somebody from her fannish past)

But yey for new fandoms + ships!

It just killed any interest I had in the rest of the season. ;3; I'll eventually get back into it, probably. Or just go back and watch the first two seasons, haha.

It's exciting! Also trying to write fic for these two has taught me I don't actually know anything about cops! XD

Hockey RPF ^^ It's put me off RPF for the foreseeable future, but looking back I cannot be sad to have been in it.

omg. You sold me this ship in just three gifs. I haven't watched anything SVU for ages. I don't even know who these characters are. (I think from fannish osmosis Barba is the ADA?) Wow. The chemistry is real.

*___* Raul Esparza, the guy who plays Barba, is bisexual and I just wonder if he has a crush on Peter Scanavino because dang, he throws smoldering eyes towards him a lot.

Also, this article in with Raul Esparza and Peter Scanavino talk about LGBT characters and about whether or not their characters could be gay. Yesssssss. *___*

Join me. ;3; Barba joins the cast in season 14 and Carisi joins the cast in season 16. It is wonderful. This fandom seems to be pretty small (which makes sense) but dang, I actually got comments on the fic I posted on ao3, which is just so unusual. ;3; It's just, aaah. How did this happen? Law and Order??? idk.

Raul Esparza was an amazing Doctor Chiltern on Hannibal, so it's super weird to think of him playing a good guy. (Is he a good guy? I am making assumptions!)

I am going to hunt down a way to watch it - it's not lilacsigil''s cup of tea, but hopefully it will be streaming on something somewhere. Or, you know, other means.
