So I'm hoping that when income tax season rolls around, I'll be able to get some pressing things paid off and then I'll actually get to, you know, maybe buy some fun things, what a concept. I've always considered myself a gamer (although less so since gamergate; now I just like to say "I like games! instead) but I've not been able to afford them lately. I mean, I've been playing Banished and I've started a new run of FFXII, and Town of Salem is always good for a laugh (if any of you play - it's a browser game, completely free-to-play - I'm bluessister, friend me and we can troll people together!) but as far as current gen and next gen gaming, I've been out of luck. I own an Xbox 360, I just. Sold all the games for it, haha. ;;;

BUT ANYWAY. After income tax season, that's all going to change (hopefully). I'm going to save up and buy a PS4 because I'm just not that impressed with the Xbone tbh. Final Fantasy Type-0 is set to be released March 17th. Guys. Guys. I've wanted this game ever since it was announced approximately a gajillion years ago. I was heartbroken when it got a Japan only release. And now it's finally, finally coming over here, aaaahh. I've heard it's painfully difficult and that Phoenix Downs and stuff are hard to come by so when your characters die, they're basically dead for the rest of the game? That kind of thing is terrifying for me and I will restart the damn game to bring characters back. Plus, if you go up against a flying enemy and all your ranged characters are dead, you're basically fucked. AAAAAHHH. I'm not letting that be a deterrent however! I'm determined to get this game and be a happy camper. ;3;

And of course, Final Fantasy XI is set to release sometime in 2015. The latest trailer has been described as a road trip with some occasionally fighting added in, which makes me smile but is kind of accurate! I'm still looking forward to this game though. It's another one that's been dragging. Damn, Squeenix, why?

I'm cautiously looking forward to Diablo III. I do like top-down RPGs like NeverWinter Nights and Diablo has always had a lot to give. I do tend to get nervous when I'm stuck in a dungeon for too long - I used to have claustrophobia but now it only bothers me sometimes, and one of those times is when I'm in a dungeon, hahaha.

Soul Saga: Episode 1 looks absolutely adorable and I hold cute JRPGs close to my heart. This is still in development so obviously it's not going to be available for quite some time but I'm looking forward to it. ;3;

I'm also really cautiously looking forward to The Elder Scrolls Online. I mean, maybe. I really want a new open world game where I can ignore the main quest and go on all the hunts and side-quests and basically live in the world. Unfortunately, MMOs tend to be TOTAL TIME SINKS in that you can't actually get anything done unless you have like three hours at a time to give up. ;;;

I'm looking forward to DayZ but I'm also a huge fucking chicken so I know better to even bother trying to play that one, unless I'm guaranteed friends. And you usually start off the game far from your friends so. ;;;

I don't know what's going on with Persona 5 but I'm interested in it!

Also, Steam's currently having a sale! I can't take advantage of this one but they usually have another in mid-December. lassarina has gotten me interested in Costume Quest so I think that's one I'm going to pick up! It looks adorable and it's set around Halloween, best holiday! I'm also pretty damn interested in Plague Inc: Evolution (which apparently is a more in depth Pandemic 2 so count me in.


ANYWAY. Yes. Gaaaaames. One day I will be able to play all the games again (and be a terribly slow gamer who rarely gets anything done, ssshhhh).

I haven't played a Final Fantasy game since....idek can you count 13? I didn't get very far in it. But I do want to check out Elder Scrolls online, but I've never played an MMO before. What are they like? :oa

Hahaha, yeah, I've heard it's pretty damn addictive.

I guess you can count 13? You played it and decided you didn't like it, but you gave it a shot. MMOs are such huge time sinks, haha. Apparently Elder Scrolls online has PvP, which is something I've never cared for (I associate it with WoW, Horde vs Alliance). Guild Wars 2 and FFXIV, the two MMOs that I've spent a great deal of time in, didn't have PvP (or at least, it was on the side and didn't have anything to do with the main storyline). Elder Scrolls actually has three different factions so. There's that. That's actually a huge deal for me. People can be sincere assholes when PvP is there.

Final Fantasy Type-0! SO excited for this to finally get to the English fandom.

Good news is that unless the international version is more difficult on principle, the normal mode is like most FF games. Harder modes are only unlocked by clearing the normal mode with high rank. The world map does throw super high level monsters at you like XIII, but if you can make it to a town with at least 1 member still alive everyone revives. Phoenix downs are still a mystery to me and it does seem that you can't revive anyone during a fight/mission. That sucks, but the way missions are designed you're pretty much meant to plough on until everyone's dead and then 'retreat' because you always keep EXP.

I'm not great at action games but it's only in the final dungeon that I'm really stuck with the difficulty. So I think you'll be able to enjoy it a lot!

Oooh, thank you! I'm really glad to hear that. I hate the idea of any of the characters staying dead - I feel so much guilt over not doing well enough to save them! - so this is a huge relief, hahaha.

And you keep your EXP even when everyone in your party dies? That's pretty great to hear! How long to missions typically last?

I've heard they're adding a easy mode to the western release as well, so that's something!

Maybe you still need 1 character alive at the point when you choose 'retreat', but maybe not. The idea is that you sacrifice the items and phantoma you've gathered during the mission but get to keep your EXP when you retreat.

And in story mode the missions usually take a few hours because they're the 'dungeons' of the game. All wartime all the time.

Ohhh, bless easy mode! Maybe I'll finally beat the ending.

how do u like banished? I've thought about getting it but keep wavering. it looks pretty and I like sims & city builders, but I've heard from some that it's v challenging and I don't like games that are too hard, if all my villagers always died I'd be angry and stop playing.

It's so frustrating. If you don't set things up just right, you run out of food and your villagers starve. If you don't have enough logs, you can't get firewood and your villagers freeze to death come winter. But you have to be careful where you cut because you need your forests for the hunting lodge, herbalist, and whatever the gatherer thing is, I can't remember. Plus, if you have disasters on, a tornado can wipe out everything and you have to start from scratch, and if it takes out your starter animal (cows, chickens, whatever), you are in danger.

I play on easy and this is how it goes. ;; I've only just gotten a village pretty stable with ~50 people. I have disasters on though, so I'm a little worried about that.

It's a fun game but it can be so frustrating and if you don't set your village up right, you're basically perpetually on the edge of disaster.

Yeah it's not something I can play for hours at a time, haha. I'm keeping an eye out for similar, cheap city/world builder games because I love them so much. I have SimCity 4 but eeeh, it's okay.

idk how similar but I've been playing tropico 4 a bunch l8ly, which I picked up b/c it was on sale. I find it amusing, so far I've only been playing the campaign/story mode.

what do u find meh about simcity 4? I've thought about picking that one up tho I wondered if I'd find it too dry, and also I prefer pretty graphics haha

I find it pretty dry, yeah. I also have trouble getting my town to grow. I'll follow guides and stuff but for some reason it stalls. :\a

oh also in addition to tropico 4, another city builder-like game i have is prison architect. which is still in alpha, but there are a lot of features. i need to play it again b/c they just introduced some new features with the latest alpha i want to try out. both tropico 4 and prison architect are decently priced too, both on sale rn for $10 (for tropico 4 that's the version that includes all the dlc and expansion).

I was eyeballing Prison Architect! I'll add both of them to my wishlist. I won't be able to afford anything until maybe the December sale but hopefully I'll be able to take advantage of that. ;3;

How far did you get with Skyrim? It has such a huge world and loads of side quests and places to explore and skills to learn and things to make (especially with the Hearthfire expansion, which is only $5 and lets you build/furnish houses).

I didn't get very far with it before I had to sell it. ;; It was the last game to go! Since I've found out that the elder scrolls online is pvp, I'm probably going to bounce back to Skyrim (you know, besides the fact that it's is amazeballs). They have the legendary edition at Gamestop but I might be able to snag a deal on ebay sometime in the future. :3 I've only played the vanilla game, none of the DLC content and tbh the whole building and furnishing a house sounds incredibly exciting. ;3; AND YOU CAN ADOPT CHILDREN? I will pretend I'm raising my own personal army, hahaha.

Yessss and if you have a child you can give them gifts, and daggers are possible gift items! If your child has a dagger and you've built the practice area in the basement, sometimes you'll find her working on her weapon technique with the straw dummy :3

(Also there's a chance you'll come home and discover she's brought home a pet and wants to keep it.)

Best five dollars I've ever spent on DLC.
