Spring is HAPPENING. I never cared much for the seasons changing in Georgia; spring was just a couple of days of warmer weather before The Hot began. But here in Washington, spring is absolutely lovely and such a nice change from the long dark. ;3; Yesterday cypher and I bought PLANTS and I will be posting pictures as soon as everything is settled.

Last week was a "vacation" to Colorado and I say "vacation" because it was mostly about visiting family and that's never really a vacation, but it was still very nice. I don't think I like Colorado, at least not the area we were in, which was just southeast of Denver. It was desert-y but not cool desert-y like Arizona and New Mexico are. It didn't have any of the interesting flora and just looked kind of lifeless and barren. Also it was the suburbs, which is just the worst (apologies to anyone who lives in suburbia but imho both city life and rural living top suburban living). It was around 30 degrees and windy when we left and came home to sunshine and low 60s. ♥

I have fallen fast and hard for Warhammer and I have no idea what to do with myself. Not the game but the novels. I've read more this year than I have in probably the previous three? It's....ridiculous. Probably more thoughts coming soon-ish, maybe. It's certainly an interesting universe to be dabbling in, even though everything is grimdark (I found out that Warhammer is where the term comes from; “IN THE GRIM DARKNESS OF THE FAR FUTURE THERE IS ONLY WAR.” Amazing.

Oh man, I should really get back to reading some Warhammer 40,000 novels - I had so much fun with Dan Abnett's Ravenor and Gaunt's Ghosts books back in the day! Which ones have you been enjoying?

You're the second person to recommend the Gaunt's Ghosts books so I'll definitely have to check them out. I'm currently reading the Horus Heresy series, which obviously tell the stories of how the Imperium of Man fell and how the Emperor got to how he is now. A lot of political intrigue and betrayal and just. A lot of heartbreak tbh hahaha.

I always meant to check out the Horus Heresy! I originally gravitated to the various series with more of a small-scale, ragtag group vibe, but I picked up just enough worldbuilding to get me interested into reading a bit more of the capital-L Lore stuff.

Ha, yes. The capital-L Lore stuff is extremely wacky and just, so over the top. The authors are clearly having a lot of fun. My partner is ahead of me and lets me know that which ones are actually worth putting the effort into reading.

Edit: So I can tell you which ones I would recommend reading!

I am only very casually into Warhammer (mostly into rubbernecking - certain conversations, and I loved If The Emperor Had a Text-To-Speech Device), but it's such a wild ride, isn't it?

I have no idea about the climate where you are; will the summer be awful and hot there?

Mind you, my tolerance for awful and hot is very, very low (partly because almost nowhere in the UK does air conditioning except maybe hotels and some businesses, maybe -- homes, definitely not).

I live in Seattle, Washington so the summer doesn't get too awful here. We have a couple of 90f/32c days and last year we have an absolutely horrible 108f/42c but that was definitely an anomaly. However where I was raised, 95+ degree days are summer regularities and 100 degree days happen more often than I liked!
