America, what the fuuuuuuck. :\ Flabbergasted, y'all. I think I was in my blue bubble up here in Seattle; I knew people weren't thrilled with Kamala but I still thought the consensus was that she was better. And House and Senate are Republican majority now too! Goddamn.

I'm not super worried about me personally. I'm queer but Washington is one of two states to go even bluer (the other is Maine) and Seattle has stalwart political leaders who openly oppose Trump (one of the reasons why he talks shit about us so much). But goddamn, my friends and family in red states, I'm so, so sorry. This is truly worst case scenario.

I work in a lot of rural areas, so I was disappointed, but not surprised at all with the results.

(It would have been nice if that 2-3 years of trying to find employment in a blue state had netted a result, but I've accepted it.)

Thanks. Unfortunately, K-12 teaching and college teaching are two different beasts. I would need a license (at least for Washington, possibly another one in general) to be able to legally teach K-12. All I have currently is "only" a Master's degree in English. And colleges are in the exact opposite position: declining enrollments, fewer teachers are needed, etc.

While there are alternate routes, generally you need to be in school for a couple of years/be ready to spend a decent amount of money. Unless there's some other route, which might be possible, since I've looked at alternate routes in both GA and WA for myself and a relative who is a substitute teacher who's hoping to become a PT teacher one day, and it's not very well organized. But I do appreciate the offer.

Yes, I'm in Ohio and it just keeps getting redder all of the time... and it makes me sick. I thought she was going to win, too. I think I'm still somewhat in a state of shock. I didn't think this would be our future... :-(

I know. :\ I was really hoping my home state of Georgia was going to go blue again after the last election but no. I just can't stand to think about the effects this is going to have on the LGBTQ community, the immigrant communities, the environment...not to mention everything going up because he wants strict tariffs! There's not one good thing to happen here. Not to mention his promises to end elections and put all of his powerful dissenters in jail.

God, this is awful. I don't think he's really capable of doing all that but even the fact that he wants to. Jeeez.

yeah.... I mean HONESTLY.... how did we get to this point?? The idea that so many Americans wanted him to get in office again just blows my mind... I hope he can't do all of the things he's talked about. It breaks my heart... :-(
