Until Dawn~

Okay so I immediately hated all of these characters except for Hannah, Beth, Josh, Chris, and Sam. This was a horrible prank to pull on someone?? What a bunch of assholes. Sam didn't want to (and didn't really participate except to call Hannah over, Josh and Chris were passed out. What a bunch of shits. Ugh.
When Hannah runs out, as Beth I chose to try and Wake Josh rather than Find Others, but Josh didn't wake up anyway so I guess this decision didn't really matter.
This introduces the first QTE, which okay, I fucking haaaaate GTEs, I'm so bad at them, I panic and forget what buttons even are. I chose the Safe Route rather than the Quick Route because look, I ain't no hero okay.
When Beth ran after Hannah into the wilderness, I chose to Follow Footsteps rather than Follow Noise, just because footsteps seem more real than shadows. Idk. I found the first totem, which showed the sisters' death scene. Boo. :(
When Beth and Hannah are hanging off the cliff and the fire guy is reaching out for Beth, I chose to Let Go rather than Drop Beth, because even though the dude seemed like he was trying to help, I didn't want to drop my sister. Which, I know, either decision leads with them falling, this choice doesn't deviate but still. :<
We're now a unknown character in Dr. Hill's office! He shows me a picture of a farmhouse with a scarecrow and I chose that It makes me happy rather than I feel Uneasy. Then I said It's Peaceful. Then he asked something about staying there for a week and I said I would, and then he asked if knowing it was haunted would change my mind about staying there and I said it wouldn't. I ain't afraid of no ghosts!
End of the Prologue! I started off really disliking almost everyone. What a bunch of jerks. I know they're all slasher movie tropes but idc. :\
Chapter One!
I'm playing as Sam now. She's described as diligent, considerate, and adventurous. I already like her because she condemned the prank. More QTEs and I once again chose the Safe route over the Quick route. We come across a sign explaining the totem and their colors, basing it in Native American folklore. There's another totem here about a bird landing on a picnic table.
Moving on, we reach the cable car station. There's a bag sitting on the bench and a phone starts ringing. I chose to Close Bag rather than Snoop because snooping is mean. :< We're introduced to Chris, MY FAVORITE CHARACTER, MY BAE, and he is described as methodical, protective, humorous, and crushing on Ashley. Chris is such a dork, I love him so much. ;3;
As we circle the cable car station, there are clues about what's going on on the mountain. At the shooting range, I chose to not shoot the squirrel because ugh, of course not, that is so mean. ;;;
Chris and Sam ride the cable car and talk about the butterfly effect, and how Chris and Josh met, and nostalgia, and ugh. These two are so likable, what good kids. ;3; I love Chris and Saaaaam.
Some stuff happens and now we're introduced to Jessica! She's described as confident, trusting, and irreverent and she's now dating Mike (who was dating Emily in the prologue, uh no drama!). I'm not a big fan of Jessica, tbh, she's pretty annoying and the prank in the prologue was all her idea! :\ I'm playing as Jessica now and she opens the door to let Chris and Sam out of the cable car. Chris snatches a letter away from Jessica, and I had her Explain her relationship status with Mike instead of Insist that Chris give the letter back.
That scene fades and we're introduced to THE MOST ANNOYING CHARACTER IN THIS GAME, Emily, and THE LEAST OFFENSIVE CHARACTER IN THIS GAME, Matt. Emily gets better but whenever she talks it's basically claws down my face. It probably has something to do with how she seems to constantly whine, rather than just talk. Even when she's saying reasonable things, her tone of voice is so fucking annoying, holy shit. She's described as intelligent, resourceful and persuasive and to be fair, when things get dangerous she does make smart, resourceful decisions. Matt, her boyfriend, is described as motivated, ambitious, and active. He seems like a pushover in his relationship with Emily but is a nice guy otherwise.
As Matt and Emily walk down the path, we're introduced to THE OTHER HUGELY ANNOYING ASSHOLE, Mike. Mike is described as driven, intelligent and persuasive. I would describe him as a huge sleaveball, but that's just me. :\
I have Matt Welcome Mike rather than Threaten him because teamwork is important and Matt is a good guy. I also chose to Persist with Emily rather than Agree with her.
We're introduced to another character, Ashley, who has a crush on Chris and is described as academic, inquisitive, and forthright. Ashley is just the CUTEST LITTLE THING, OMG. She can be made to do things that would make me hate her but since I've made good decisions so far, she won't be doing those things in my playthrough. \o/ Anyway, she's looking through the viewing telescope and sees Emily and Mike talking and hugging. Matt shows up and first we tell him not to look but after he insists, we let him. :<
And then there's a long, drawn out scene of Jessica and Mike having a snowball fight and flirting; the only important decision I could see was deciding to not hit the the bird with a snowball. And also, instead of kissing Mike, I had Jessica hit him in the face with a snowball.
And then we're the unknown character in Dr. Hill's office and my fears ended up being snakes, needles, and zombies, which seems understandable. XD
I've actually played through chapter six but there's a lot to write about so hahaha. I've also watched Markiplier play through the end (and I actually got a bit mad at his playthrough, because he started over instead of living with his bad mistakes, aaaahhhhh).
SO ANYWAY, I SHIP JOSH AND CHRIS PRETTY HARDCORE? I don't really care that Josh ended up a wendigo, I can either handwave that or make him a special kind of wendigo or something. I'm working on a fic right now where he's basically followed Chris down the mountain. I am such shipper trash, aaaaah.

Date: 2015-09-19 09:40 pm (UTC)Haha, once you said you liked Chris, I was like, 'I bet she ships Chris/Josh!' and ta-da! xD They are, in their defense, pretty adorbs so it made sense (plus, AO3 seems fond of them). I kinda would've preferred an ending where Josh escapes with the others and there's copious amounts of hurt/comfort for him and the others (especially with him and Chris because it was kind of a dick move to play that shitty Saw-esque prank on Chris in the shed, especially when Chris had nothing to do with the prank, unless it was to get back at Ashley, but dayum, don't do that to Chris TWICE).
I rather like Sam/Hannah and Sam/Jessica (whom I actually liked by the end), but I'm femslash shipping trash so... XD
Speaking of, I signed up to write a Homestuck/Until Dawn fic for spook_me using a shapeshifting creature. Omg what am I thinking!?no subject
Date: 2015-09-20 04:01 pm (UTC)Yesssss, such shipper trash, Chris and Josh are adorable and I want to see them get a happy ending. I mean, I like Ashley and Chris canonly, they're pretty cute but that is not really where my interests lie. XD But yes, it seems like Josh was really testing Chris there, doesn't it?! When he didn't have anything to do with the prank. I almost want to think that maybe he was trying to make Chris look like a hero in front of Ashley by having him rescue her, except when you choose for Chris to save Ashley instead of Josh, the butterfly effect states that Josh is offended that Chris saved Ashley instead of him so. SHRUG. Maybe it was a test to see if Chris would save him instead. MAYBE IT'S ALL A BIG JEALOUSY THING ON JOSH'S PART. XD
I liked Jessica in Mark's playthrough but unfortunately she didn't make it in mine so. :<
WHAT, like a fusion fic? Because that's intense, friend. That's intense.

Date: 2015-09-20 06:21 pm (UTC)Okay, so I thought alot about that whole shed scene and my most logical conclusion is that it was a loyalty test. At the previous session with Dr. Hill, he asks about whether or not you value loyalty, going so far to use an example of 'loyalty to a friend', which is probably a hinthint at the identity of the patient, Pfft. But yeah, Josh is probably trying to find out whether 'bros before hoes', essentially. It's childish though, but not surprising considering his mental state. (It is supremely messed up though because picking to save Josh is nailing Chris's coffin closed later on.) I can only assume the gun test is p much the same thing (since they seem to give you a second chance in a lot of choices).
But really, I like the idea so much better that it was just jealous!Josh acting out. xD
YEAH! A fusion fic. Throw some of the Homestuck kids in a cabin in the woods with a shapeshifting monster and an asshole or two with a grudge, hehe! Plus, 80's campiness! I got interesting prompts too so this could end up truly horrific. *evil cackle* (Just wish I wasn't behind on the last year of updates *facepalm*) It would be interesting to try to write in that same choose-your-own-adventure style but that might be a stretch with the time constraint and my other three (four?) projects between then and now. Though not impossible... Hmm...

Date: 2015-09-21 03:31 pm (UTC)I think Emily's insecurity can be inferred from the changes in relationships; she and Jessica were best friends and she and Mike were dating, and Jessica was gungho about "punishing" Hannah for having a crush on Mike, but a year passes by and suddenly Jessica and Mike are dating and Emily hates both of them. There's something else happening there and I know the game didn't really want to go into that because Emily's suppose to be the bitch character, but I think Jessica and Mike did her dirty. Granted, it doesn't mean she should treat Matt so poorly and if she hated them so much, she probably shouldn't have gone on the trip, and her complaining and whining about EVERYTHING (WHY DON'T YOU EVER TALK NORMALLY, EMILY, WHY IS EVERYTHING A WHINE?!), but I can definitely understand why she acted the way she acted sometimes, even if I also wanted to throttle her. XD
Yeah, it's SUCH a rock and a hard place for Chris and tbh I'm glad I got spoiled about the circumstances around that death because I probably would have picked Josh and then Ashley would have killed Chris and I would have been UPSET. I definitely agree that Josh was working from a "bros before hoes" mentality and that's incredibly childish, but he didn't know about the wendigos or that Ashley would be upset enough to actually let Chris die for that choice. ;;;; Just imagine if there was a way to save Josh in the end and he found out that Ashley assisted in Chris' death. Oh man. I want that fic. ;3;
IF YOU WROTE A CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE UNTIL DAWN/HOMESTUCK FIC I WOULD PLAY IT SO MUCH, GET ALL THE ENDINGS, FUCK YEAH. But you have so much on your plate, hahaha, you take on so many fic challenges. It's intense. YOU ARE TOO EXTREME. \m/( -_- )\m/

Date: 2015-09-21 03:16 pm (UTC)I definitely plan on continue with this walkthrough! It's so much fun to play, even though it's more of an interactive story more than anything, and the gaming aspects that are in it (QTEs, having to keep the controller still during tense moments) are things that give me a lot of trouble, hahahaha. XD
