I JUST FINISHED WATCHING THE FIRST EPISODE AND IT IS SO GOOD HOLY CRAP. HOLY CRAP. I AM SO EXCITED.

Yep. It took literally an hour for the stupid advert to buffer before the first episode, but I'm 2 in now. MY LOVE FOR THIS STORY WILL BE ENDLESS.

NARSUS IS SO PERFECT. I was concerned about how he'd be handled; too arrogant or too composed but no, they found the right mix. He's so good. Oh my god. When Arslan told him he'd make him court painter and Narsus taunted Daryun, who responded with something like "Will you kindly leave me alone" I thought I was going to die laughing.

They are so wonderful, aren't they? And are still obviously not-so-secret lovers, which is one of the things I loved about it in the first place. It was a HLoA fic that first introduced me to yaoi, way back when.

Arslan is a little too wide-eyed innocent; I remember him with a bit more quiet dignity, but perhaps he will grow into it. Can't wait to see Gieve; I had to stop at 4 because it was almost 2am.

Yes! I only kind of shipped them way back but I think I'm warming up to that pairing. Their interactions are just hilarious.

I think I kind of prefer this Arslan tbh; he seems incredibly sheltered, which seems only right. I'm sure he'll gain more dignity as the series progresses.

I powered through all six episodes because bad decisions are the best decisions, haha. |D

UH WELL. I haven't binged on anime in a long time and last night I watched the first six episodes. I would have watched more but that's all that's available right now. XD So yeah, I am enjoying it a lot.

It's a complete retelling so you wouldn't have to have any background info! The set up throws a lot of characters at you but, uh, you don't really need to remember most of them. It's pretty obvious who all is important to the story. |D

I was so excited at first, but I can't deal with the new character designs. Especially the new manga - not my taste at all, stopped reading after the first chapter. :-(

Oh man, that's too bad! I really like the character designs (I'm assuming the manga and the anime are the same?) but then, I also like Hiromu Arakawa's work. It's certainly not as pretty as the original but I am digging Arslan's extreme cuteness and Daryun's weirdo eyebrows. XD I think the only one I'm going to have a problem with is Ferengese (or however you spell her name omg) because her outfit seems to have shrunk (at least in the opening credits) so I hope they don't go too far for fanservice. :\

Yes, definitely the same design for manga and anime. The manga looks less polished than the anime, but I guess that's normal when one starts drawing something. It was the first chapter after all. I wouldn't care so much if I wasn't in love with the old design from the OVAs - never really got used to the old manga, too, though I only have one volume to compare styles.

Okay, I'm watching the anime anyway, because moar Arslan OMG1!, and the designs are slowly growing on me.

I haven't read the manga (or novels) or watched the previous OVA, so I'm ttly unspoiled for story, and I am really enjoying it so far. Like, sure, it's not the prettiest thing ever visually, but it's also not as bad as many reviews I've seen make it out to be, and I'm someone who is frequently very harsh on shows for animation or misuse of CG. I love the way the story is paced so far, such a delicious slow-burn politics/strategy-laden affair. It's excellent. Ttly digging it. :D

There were only a couple of times when the animation distracted me and I'm willing to let that go because I love the characters and storyline. ;3;
