Jfc this weekend was terrible. I ended up not doing any of the fun things I'd planned and instead worked on all the projects my professors dumped on me for the long weekend. I got three hours of sleep last night. It's been great.

Quick fic recs, since that's what's getting me through the end of this semester, ha ha ha.

love means never having to say you're sorry by coloredink, Sherlock/John: Sherlock Holmes knows what comes of love. Dang, this is so sweet? Sherlock fumbling through love is one of my faves.

Wildflowers by axona, Lulubean, Katsuki Yuuri/Yuri Plisetsky: These won’t be the last tears he sheds over Victor Nikiforov, but he has hit a point where they stop and leave him numb and dazed.

“He...that was my first kiss,” Yuuri whispers, staring down at his open palms on his lap helplessly.

Yurio makes a noise like he’s just been punched in the gut, and he growls something in Russian that Yuuri doesn’t bother translating. He only looks up when Yurio squats in front of him, firmly and unapologetically taking hold of Yuuri’s empty hands with his own, intense blue-green eyes staring at him.

“You deserve better than him.”

NOW DON'T YOU GIVE ME THAT LOOK OKAY, I know breaking up Yuuri/Victor is just Not On but I saw that this was a long, slow burn Yuri/Yuuri and thought I'd give it a shot. Some of the prose is a bit longwinded but I adore the way the author writes the characters and that's what's most important. XD

Also, finished my painting! Copic markers, watercolors, acrylics, about....jeeez, maybe 3'x4'? I don't really worry too much about measuring things, lmao. The critique was pretty interesting for this one, with most of the class deciding that this seemed like more of a caretaker role than anything sexual, while my professor saying there seems to be something almost transactional about the figures' relationship. It was pretty interesting! I certainly have my own intentions with this piece but I'm 100% fine with viewers interpreting it however they want.

Thank you! I'm terrible with choosing colors (working digitally makes it easier because I can choose color schemes and color pick but working traditionally makes it so hard!) so I'm glad these worked out. :D

... But I think as long as I'm still working on my YoI WIP I can't give this breaking-Yuuri-and-Victor-up story a shot... though recs have a tendency to just run over me rough-shot and make me read it anyway!

And that's fair! I was super hesitant to read something that broke up Yuuri and Victor (and cast Victor in a bad light, although I can definitely see where the author's coming from) and when I'm writing, reading fic can influence what I'm writing. XD

Oh wow, thank you! I love Savinio's work, it's always so beautiful and weird. :D The cloaked figure was originally inspired by plague doctor masks, although now I kinda want to do something with Venice masks now.

OMG THOSE FEATHERS. That is such a gorgeous piece, and wow, so big! That's amazing looking. And I can definitely see how they were interpreting it as caretaking.

Thank you! The feathers were the most time-consuming part of this but they also definitely came out the best so: worth it! |D All of my pieces this semester have been soooo huge. The piece before this was taller than me and I'm 5'3". XD I really hate working so large so this piece is the first one that I think actually came out successfully.

Thank you! I'm so bad with picking colors (color theory, what is color theory?) and although I looked up color schemes, I'm never sure if they'll turn out using traditional methods (digital is easy, I can just use the color picker, haha!). So I'm glad they turned out. :3

I'll be able to sleep...probably the weekend of the 28th. My job will be closed that day, which means an actual two day weekend! And since it's the weekend before finals (and I don't have any finals, just final critique periods, which are the same as regular critique periods!) I'll be able to sleeep.

The painting looks great! Especially the wings, they're so beautiful, I can't stop staring at all the feathers. And I like how the winged one is kind of twirling the other figure's hair around one claw.

And try to get some sleep! (Says the one who stayed up all last night wrestling with their computer for an assignment.)

Thank you so much! I knew going in that the claw pushing the hair off the forehead was something I really wanted to have. It's such a tender motion and I wanted that to be evident. :3
